【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=포산고등학교(교장 김명옥)가 '제15회 e-ICON 세계대회'에서 1위를 차지해 교육부 장관상을 수상했다.
'e-ICON 세계대회'는 교육부가 주최하고 한국디지털교육협회가 주관하는 국제 경진대회다.
국내 및 해외 중·고등학생들이 글로벌팀을 이루어 국제연합(UN)의 지속가능개발목표(SDGs) 달성을 위한 앱을 개발하는 방식으로 진행된다.
포산고의 'Sobuj Sarang 팀'(2학년 김하은, 박주원, 지도교사 신혜원)은 방글라데시 학생들과 협력해 이상 기후로 어려움을 겪는 개발도상국 농부들을 돕는 앱을 개발했다.
팀은 SDG 13(기후변화 대응)을 목표로 방글라데시 다카 지역의 습도, 토양 습도, 미세먼지 농도, 자외선 지수 등 다양한 데이터를 생성형 인공지능으로 분석했다.
이를 통해 최적화된 정보를 제공하고 미래 기후를 예측해, 이상 기후로 인한 연간 식량 자원 수확량 40% 감소 문제를 해결하고자 했다.
포산고는 올해부터 '과학탐구프리즘 활동'을 통해 학생들이 일상 속 궁금증을 한 학기 동안 스스로 탐구한 후 발표하며 탐구 역량을 기르고 있다.
또한 지역 사회와 연계한 온라인 및 오프라인 프로그램을 통해 학생들에게 첨단 과학을 경험할 기회를 제공하며 지역적 한계를 극복하고 있다.
포산고 IB 과정 3학년 학생들은 학교 인근 공장의 소각 문제로 발생하는 악취 해결을 위해 지역 사회 공생 프로젝트 'Rid Benzene'를 추진하며 지역사회 문제 해결에도 힘쓰고 있다.
김명옥 교장은 "학교의 탐구 문화를 통해 지역과 세계의 문제를 합리적이고 과학적으로 해결하려는 학생들이 자랑스럽다"며 "앞으로도 학생들이 공존을 위한 탐구 활동을 이어나갈 수 있도록 적극적으로 지원하겠다"고 말했다.

Posan High School's "Sobuj Sarang Team" (2nd-year students Ha-eun Kim, Joo-won Park, and instructor Hye-won Shin) collaborated with Bangladeshi students to develop an app to help farmers in developing countries struggling due to extreme weather.
The team analyzed various data, including humidity, soil moisture, fine dust concentration, and UV index, in the Dhaka area of Bangladesh using generative artificial intelligence to achieve SDG 13 (response to climate change).
This approach provided optimized information and predicted future climate changes, aiming to address the 40% annual decline in food resource yields caused by extreme weather.
Since this year, Posan High School has been developing its "Science Inquiry Prism" program, in which students independently explore everyday curiosities over the course of a semester and then present their findings, fostering their inquiry skills.
Furthermore, Posan High School is overcoming regional limitations by providing students with opportunities to experience cutting-edge science through online and offline programs linked to the local community.
Posan High School's third-year IB students are also working to address local issues through the "Rid Benzene" community project, which addresses the stench caused by incineration at a nearby factory.
Principal Kim Myung-ok stated, "I am proud of the students who, through our school's culture of inquiry, are striving to solve local and global problems rationally and scientifically. We will continue to actively support our students in their ongoing inquiry activities for coexistence."
