계양구에 따르면, 이날 행사에는 윤환 구청장을 비롯해 계양구의회 의장과 의원, 인천보훈지청장(직무대리), 보훈단체장, 사회단체장, 광복회원 등 40여 명이 함께했다. 행사는 국민의례, 내빈소개, 기념사 및 축사, 폐식, 단체사진 촬영, 전시 소개 및 관람 순으로 진행됐다.
광복 80주년을 맞아 마련된 이번 특별전시는 국가보훈부 인천보훈지청이 주최하고 광복회 인천광역시지부 계양구지회가 주관해 8월 12일부터 오는 12월 31일까지 진행된다.
전시는 계양·인천의 3.1만세운동, 광복회 활동, 대한민국 임시정부 수립 과정 등을 8개 전시물과 30점의 배너로 구성됐다.
윤환 구청장은 축사를 통해 “광복 80주년은 우리 민족이 되찾은 자유와 독립의 가치를 다시금 되새기는 뜻깊은 해”라며 “순국선열들의 희생과 헌신을 잊지 않고, 독립운동 정신을 계양의 미래세대에게 계승하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
