【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구 남구가 외국인의 민원 처리 불편 해소에 팔을 걷어붙였다.
남구는 미군 부대 인접 지역이라는 특성과 다문화가정의 증가로 외국인 주민의 민원 수요가 급증하면서 그간 언어 장벽으로 인한 불편이 꾸준히 제기돼 왔다.
이에 남구는 영어, 중국어, 일본어, 베트남어 등 4개 언어로 번역한 민원 서식 44종을 제작해 민원실에 비치했다.
책자 형태로 제공되는 이번 서식은 외국인 주민들이 자주 찾는 기본 민원 업무를 중심으로 구성됐다.
또한 러시아어, 몽골어, 우즈벡어, 크메르어, 타갈로그어, 태국어 등 10개 언어로 번역된 208종의 민원 서식은 구청 홈페이지에서도 내려받을 수 있도록 했다.
조재구 남구청장은 “언어 장벽으로 어려움을 겪는 외국인 주민들이 더 편리하게 행정 서비스를 이용할 수 있을 것”이라며 “앞으로도 민원 접근성을 높이고, 신속·친절한 행정을 위해 지속적으로 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

Daegu's Nam-gu District Office has rolled up its sleeves to address the inconveniences faced by foreign residents in handling civil affairs.
Nam-gu's proximity to a US military base and the increase in multicultural families have led to a surge in civil affairs requests from foreign residents, leading to persistent language barriers.
In response, Nam-gu has created 44 civil affairs forms, translated into four languages—English, Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese—and placed them in its civil affairs offices.
These forms, available in booklet format, focus on basic civil affairs services frequently requested by foreign residents.
Furthermore, 208 civil affairs forms, translated into ten languages, including Russian, Mongolian, Uzbek, Khmer, Tagalog, and Thai, are available for download on the district office website.
Nam-gu Mayor Cho Jae-gu stated, "This will allow foreign residents facing language barriers to utilize administrative services more conveniently. We will continue to strive to improve accessibility and provide prompt and friendly service."
