'역사가 살아야 나라가 산다'는 국가관이 뚜렷한 문종금 한러친선협회 이사장은 뜻밖의 인물을 영화로 만들고 있다. 뜻밖이라는 말은 알려지지 않은 인물에 대한 영화여서다. 영화 제목이 <표트로 최>이다. 우리 이름으로는 최재형이다.
독립운동을 한 대표적인 인물로 이토 히로부미를 저격한 안중근 의사와 독립군 대장으로 잘 알려진 홍범도 장군을 작접적으로 도운 인물이다. 안중근 의사가 사형장에 끌려가면서도 끝까지 함구해 자신과 나라를 위해 헌신하고 있는 인물인 최재형을 감춰주었다. 안중근 의사에게 최재형은 스승 같은 존재였다. 최재형은 실질적이고도 현장에서 직접 국가를 위해 독립운동을 했고 활동형인 독립운동가들을 물질적으로 도운 인물이었다.

영화 제작을 진두지휘하고 있는 문종금 이사장은 77년 홍콩에 있는 이소룡 영화사의 김선경 감독에게 픽업되었다. <무협문>에 첫 출연을 하면서 뜻하지 않게 영화에 입문했다. 문종금 이사장의 나이 22세였다. 우리나라에서는 최초로 최연소 홍콩 진출을 했다.
성룡, 홍금보, 주윤발 등과 함께 영화에 출연하면서 알려지게 되었다. <국제 경찰>, <월야성야>, <신서유기> 및 84년 대종상 출품 작품이었던 김효천 감독의 <사약> 에서 배우로 좋은 평가를 받았다.

영화 <표트로 최>를 준비하고 있는 문종금 이사장의 인생에는 예상치 못한 전환이 있었다.
