대통령실이 25일(현지시간) "이재명 대통령과 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령 간 진행된 한·미 정상회담은 성공적이었다"고 자평했다.
강유정 대변인은 이날 미 워싱턴 DC 한 호텔에 마련된 한국프레스센터 브리핑에서 "공동합의문이 굳이 필요 없을 정도로 얘기가 잘 된 회담이었다"며 "양 정상이 친밀감을 느끼게 된 성공적 정상회담'이라며 이같이 전했다.
앞서 트럼프 대토령과 이 대통령은 이날 오후 12시 43분께부터 미 워싱턴DC 백악관에서 소인수 회담을 진행한 데 이어 오후 3시께까지 오찬을 겸한 비공개 확대회담을 이어가며 총 2시간 20분여간 정상실무회담을 가졌다.
트럼프 대통령은 이 대통령과 한국 정치 상황·교역·관세 협상·미 조선업 현재와 미래 등에 관해 대화한 가운데 강 대변인은 "처음에 분명히 무역 얘기부터 하자 했는데 다 사라지고 두 정상의 친밀하고 사적 얘기들로 회담이 진행됐다"고 전했다.
