지난 25일 국회 예산결산특별위원회 종합정책질의에서 김 의원은 “대구 3차 순환도로는 미군 부대(캠프워커) 부지 통과 문제로 30년째 완전 개통이 이뤄지지 못하고 있다”며 “동편도로 부지는 반환 합의가 이루어졌지만, 서편도로는 여전히 지지부진하다”고 지적했다.
그는 “현장을 직접 보면 미군 담장을 조금만 조정하면 해결 가능한 사안”이라며 “이재명 대통령의 대선 공약이었던 만큼 국방부와 외교부가 적극적으로 협조해 달라”고 강조했다.
이에 대해 안규백 국방부 장관은 “지역구 의원님의 지적에 공감하며, 이 사안에 대해 검토하겠다”고 답했다.
김 의원은 질의 직후 “장관이 밝힌 공감과 검토 의지가 단순한 답변에 그치지 않고 실제 조속한 해결로 이어지기를 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
