전북자치도는 익산시 동물용의약품 클글러스터에 입주한 '동물용의약품 효능ㆍ안전성 평가센터'가 농림축산검역본부로부터 3개 분야 시험 실시기관 지정을 잇따라 획득했다고 29일 밝혔다.
센터는 ▲ 동물용의약품 임상시험(2024년 12월) ▲ 동물용의료기기 임상시험(2025년 3월)▲ 동물용의약품 비 임상시험 실시기관(소독제 효력시험 분야까지 차례로 지정받아 3개 분야 인증을 모두 갖춘 종합 평가기관으로 발돋움하게 됐다.
오는 9월부터 동물용의약품 비임상시험 중 잔류성 시험 분야 인증도 추진할 계획이다.
수요 증가에 대비해 폐수처리시설 개ㆍ보수 등 운영 기반도 강화한다.
민선식 농생명축산산업국장은 "이번 3개 분야 시험 실시기관 지정으로 전북이 명실상부한 국내 동물용의약품 평가 거점지역으로 도약했다"며 "앞으로 시제품 생산시설과 임상시험센터 구축 등 단계적 인프라 확충을 통해 바이오기업의 신약 개발 지원 및 연관 산업 생태계 조성에 앞장서겠다"고 말했다.
