[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 지난 1999년 제정된 ‘진주8경’을 계승·발전시키기 위해 진주문화사랑모임과 함께 시민 의견과 변화된 관광 환경을 반영한 재정비에 착수했다고 8일 밝혔다.
시는 지난 3일부터 오는 10월 2일까지 한 달간 1차 예비조사를 진행해 시민들로부터 진주를 대표할 만한 관광 명소를 추천받고 있다.
추천 대상은 자연경관, 역사·문화유산, 관광사업과 연계 가능한 장소 등으로, 시민이 일상에서 접하는 숨은 명소도 자유롭게 제안할 수 있다.
예비조사 기간 중에는 ‘진주8경 재정비 시민 설명회’도 열려 추진 계획을 공유하고 다양한 시민 의견을 직접 청취할 예정이다.
시는 1차 조사 결과를 바탕으로 약 20곳 내외의 예비후보지를 선정하고, 오는 10월 중에는 전 국민을 대상으로 2차 온·오프라인 설문조사도 진행할 계획이다.
최종 후보지는 전문가 자문과 시정조정위원회 심의를 거쳐 오는 12월경 ‘새로운 진주8경’으로 확정되며, 공식 발표와 함께 홍보에 나선다.
