【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구 수성구(구청장 김대권)가 세계적인 미디어아트 기관인 독일 ZKM(Zentrum für Kunst und Medien)과 ‘미디어아트 교류 협력의향서(LOI)’를 체결했다고 9일 밝혔다.
이번 협력은 연호지구 미디어아트 미술관 조성 사업과 맞물려 국제적 네트워크 확대의 기반이 될 전망이다.
지난 2일부터 7일까지 수성구의 해외 교류 도시인 독일 카를스루에시와 ZKM, 쿤스트할레 미술관 대표단이 수성구를 방문했다.
이들은 칼라스퀘어 미디어아트 전시관, 연호지구 미디어아트 미술관 예정지, 들안시각예술센터 조성 현장을 둘러보고 사업 현황을 공유받았으며, 간송미술관과 대구미술관을 방문해 지역 문화예술 환경을 살펴보기도 했다.
수성구와 ZKM은 협약을 통해 ▲연호지구 미디어아트 미술관 조성 ▲국내 신진작가 발굴 플랫폼 구축 등에 대한 협력을 논의했다.
특히 연호지구 저수지 인접 공원에 들어설 미디어아트 미술관은 ZKM의 세계적 역량을 결합해 신진작가가 글로벌 무대로 진출할 수 있는 등용문으로 자리 잡을 계획이다. 또한 첨단 기술과의 융합, 실험적 전시를 통해 혁신적 플랫폼을 마련한다는 목표다.
ZKM은 예술·과학·기술의 융합을 선도하며 전 세계 미디어아트계에서 독보적인 입지를 인정받는 기관이다.
알리스테어 허드슨 ZKM 관장은 “수성구의 프로젝트는 매우 인상적이며, 이번 협력이 예술과 기술, 지역사회가 만나는 새로운 모델이 될 것”이라고 기대를 밝혔다.
