아프리카 사하라 사막에 사는
염소와 낙타를 키우는 유목민은
낙타와 함께 모래사막을
2시간이나 걸어
오아시스에서 물을 길어왔다.
서울 사람들에게 물이 필요하면
수도꼭지만 틀면
물이 콸콸 쏟아지는데
사하라 사막 유목민의 얼굴엔 미소가 붙어 있었고
서울 사람들 얼굴엔 수심(垂心)이 붙어 있었지
사막 모래벌판을 걷는
유목민의 생명은 끈질기다.

Nomads who live in the Sahara Desert in Africa,
who raise goats and camels,
wander for two hours across the sandy desert with their camels
to fetch water from an oasis.
If people in Seoul need water,
they just turn on the tap,
and water gushes forth,
but the lives of nomads who walk the desert sands are tenacious.
The faces of Sahara nomads are filled with smiles,
while the faces of Seoulites are filled with pensiveness.
