【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=선린대학교(총장 곽진환)는 국제교류교육센터 소속 베트남 원어민 강사 응우옌 티 미 치(NGUYEN THI MY CHI, 한국명 원다영)가 지난 10일 포항해양경찰서 대강당에서 열린 제72주년 해양경찰의 날 기념식에서 해양수산부장관 표창을 받았다고 11일 밝혔다.

원다영 강사는 국내 체류 외국인 및 유학생을 대상으로 한 경찰 행정 지원, 통역·번역 활동, 지역 해양경찰과의 협력 업무 등에 적극 참여해 해양 치안 안정과 다문화 이해 증진에 기여한 공로를 인정받아 이번 표창을 수상했다.
현재 선린대 국제교류교육센터에서 근무 중인 그는 유학생들의 입국 초기부터 정착까지 전 과정을 지원하고 있으며, 생활 적응·수업 이해·행정 처리·비자 상담 등 실질적인 학업·생활 밀착 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 또한 지역사회의 언어·문화적 가교로서 유학생과 해양경찰 간 통역 지원, 외국인 대상 해양안전 교육 통역, 사건 발생 시 경찰행정 보조 등 다양한 협력 활동을 이어오고 있다.
국제교류교육센터 최현아 센터장은 “원다영 강사는 단순한 언어 강사를 넘어 외국인 유학생들이 안정적으로 학업에 전념할 수 있도록 돕는 중요한 역할을 하고 있다”며 “이번 수상은 대학과 지역사회가 함께 거둔 성과이자 다문화 시대에 요구되는 협력의 좋은 사례”라고 말했다.
한편, 선린대학교 국제교류교육센터는 2025년 RISE 사업에 선정됨에 따라 향후 5년간 ‘유학생 정주형 교육 플랫폼 구축’을 목표로, 한국어 능력 향상은 물론 학부 진학·취업·지역사회 정착까지 지원을 확대할 계획이다.

Sunlin University (President Kwak Jin-hwan) announced on the 11th that Nguyen Thi My Chi (Korean name: Won Da-young), a native Vietnamese lecturer at the International Exchange Education Center, received a commendation from the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries at the 72nd Coast Guard Day ceremony held at the Pohang Coast Guard Station auditorium on the 10th.

Currently working at the Sunlin University International Exchange Education Center, she supports international students throughout their entire journey from arrival to settlement. She provides practical academic and life-related services, including support for student life adjustment, course understanding, administrative processing, and visa consultation. Furthermore, as a linguistic and cultural bridge within the local community, the center has been actively engaged in various collaborative activities, including providing interpretation services between international students and the Coast Guard, interpreting for maritime safety training for foreigners, and assisting with police administration in the event of an incident.
Director Choi Hyun-ah of the International Exchange and Education Center stated, "Instructor Won Da-young is more than just a language instructor; she plays a vital role in helping international students focus on their studies. This award is a joint achievement between the university and the local community and a prime example of the cooperation required in this multicultural era."
Meanwhile, Sunlin University's International Exchange and Education Center, having been selected for the 2025 RISE project, plans to expand its support over the next five years, aiming to "build a permanent education platform for international students." This support will encompass not only improving Korean language proficiency but also expanding support for undergraduate advancement, employment, and local community integration.
