대구시는 지난 17일 오전 10시부터 시작한 '2026대구마라톤대회' 마스터즈 풀코스 참가자 접수 결과, 18일 오전 9시 기준 총 1만6천여 명이 신청했다고 밝혔다.
이는 작년에 81일에 걸쳐 모집한 풀코스 참가자 1만3천여 명을 단 하루 만에 뛰어넘은 수치다. 2026년 국내에서 열리는 세계육상연맹(WA) 인증 첫 마라톤대회이자 국내 최대 규모 마라톤대회로 성장한 대구마라톤에 대한 전국 마라토너들의 뜨거운 관심을 보여준다.
개인 접수와 함께 최근 전국적으로 확산되고 있는 러닝 크루 등 단체 참가 열기도 뜨겁다. 대구마라톤에서만 운영하는 '50인 이상 단체' 참가 접수도 같은 날 진행됐는데, 모집 목표 30팀을 하루 만에 넘어서는 성과를 거뒀다.
내년 2월 22일 열릴 '2026대구마라톤대회'는 세계 정상급 엘리트 선수와 풀코스 2만여 명, 10km 1만5천여 명, 건강달리기(5km) 5천여 명 등 총 4만여 명의 국내외 마스터즈 선수들이 참여한다.
