[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 박형준 부산시장이 지난 19일 오후 시청 국제의전실에서 칼-울르프 안데르손(Karl-Olof Andersson) 주한스웨덴대사와 만나 부산과 스웨덴 간의 문화·예술을 비롯한 다양한 분야의 협력 방안을 논의했다.
이날 접견에서 박 시장은 먼저 “영화의 도시 부산을 찾아주셔서 감사드린다”며 안데르손 대사의 방문을 환영했다. 이어 “최근 부산의 매력이 널리 알려지며 외국인 관광객이 빠르게 증가하고 있다. 부산의 매력은 아름다운 자연경관과 미식에 그치지 않고, 문화와 예술로 확장되고 있다”고 말했다.
특히 박 시장은 부산현대미술관에서 열리고 있는 힐마 아프 클린트(Hilma af Klint) 전시에 주목하며, “추상미술의 선구자 클린트의 전시는 부산의 문화적 깊이를 더해주는 계기가 되고 있다”고 평가했다. 또한 “이번 전시와 연계된 특별 프로그램에서 대사님과 미술관장님이 2020년 스웨덴 알마(ALMA)상 수상작가인 백희나 작가의 그림책을 함께 낭독한 자리는 매우 뜻깊다”고 덧붙였다.
이에 안데르손 대사도 깊은 공감을 표하며, “힐마 아프 클린트 전시를 부산현대미술관에서 개최해 주셔서 감사하다”며 감사를 전했다. 그는 또 “오는 10월 28일 개막하는 제14회 스웨덴영화제에도 시장님이 함께 해주시길 바란다”고 초청의 뜻을 밝혔다. 스웨덴영화제는 2012년 실비아 여왕의 방한을 계기로 시작돼, 올해로 14회째를 맞이한다.
안데르손 대사는 이어 “한국과 스웨덴은 긴밀한 경제협력 관계를 이어오고 있으며, 많은 스웨덴 기업들이 부산을 비롯한 한국 내 여러 지역에서 활발히 활동 중”이라고 설명했다. 또 “한국전쟁 당시 스웨덴이 야전병원을 운영하는 등, 부산과 스웨덴은 역사적으로도 깊은 인연을 갖고 있다”고 강조했다.
이에 박 시장은 “올해는 부산국제영화제가 30회를 맞이하는 매우 특별한 해로, 부산을 세계 최대 영화제로 키워내는 것이 목표”라며, “부산에서는 국제 전시와 행사가 활발히 열리고 있고, 세계 각지에서 관광객들이 찾아오고 있다. 문화뿐 아니라 경제 분야에서도 부산과 스웨덴 간 교류 가능성이 매우 크다고 생각한다”고 밝혔다.
안데르손 대사는 “스웨덴에서는 한국 드라마, 케이팝(K-pop), K-뷰티, K-푸드 등 한류에 대한 관심이 매우 높다”며, “힐마 아프 클린트 전시, 알마 전시, 스웨덴영화제 등 다양한 문화 행사를 통해 양국 간 교류가 더욱 활발해지길 기대한다”고 말했다.
마지막으로 박 시장은 “이번 방문을 계기로 부산과 스웨덴 간의 교류와 협력이 더 활기를 띠길 바라며, 부산에서 좋은 기억을 안고 돌아가시길 바란다”며 접견을 마무리했다.

On September 19 at 4:30 PM, Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon met with Karl-Olof Andersson, the Ambassador of Sweden to Korea, at the International Protocol Room of Busan City Hall to discuss opportunities for cultural, artistic, and broader cooperation between Busan and Sweden.
Mayor Park began the meeting by welcoming the Ambassador, saying, “Thank you for taking the time to visit the city of film, Busan. We’re honored to have you here.” He continued, “Busan’s charm has been gaining widespread attention lately, with a sharp increase in international visitors. Beyond our beautiful scenery and cuisine, Busan is growing as a city of culture and the arts.”
Mayor Park highlighted the significance of the Hilma af Klint exhibition currently being held at the Busan Museum of Contemporary Art. “This exhibition, showcasing the work of a pioneer in abstract art, is helping elevate Busan’s cultural presence,” he said. He also remarked on a special related program, saying, “It was especially meaningful that you, Mr. Ambassador, and the museum director participated in a reading of a picture book by Baek Heena, the 2020 recipient of Sweden’s Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA).”
In response, Ambassador Andersson expressed his appreciation, saying, “Thank you for hosting the Hilma af Klint exhibition at the Busan Museum of Contemporary Art.” He also extended an invitation to Mayor Park to attend the opening ceremony of the 14th Swedish Film Festival, which will be held on October 28. The festival, first launched in 2012 during Queen Silvia’s visit to Korea, marks its 14th edition this year.
Ambassador Andersson went on to say, “Sweden and Korea enjoy a close economic partnership, and many Swedish companies are actively operating not only in Busan but throughout the country. Historically, too, Sweden and Busan share a deep connection—such as the Swedish field hospital established during the Korean War.”
Mayor Park responded by emphasizing the significance of the year, saying, “This year marks the 30th edition of the Busan International Film Festival, which opened on September 17. We are working to grow it into the world’s largest film festival.” He added, “Busan is currently hosting a variety of international exhibitions and events, and welcoming visitors from around the world. I believe there is great potential for Korea and Sweden to cooperate further in both cultural and economic fields.”
Ambassador Andersson agreed, noting the rising popularity of Korean culture in Sweden. “K-dramas, K-pop, K-beauty, and Korean food are all extremely popular in Sweden,” he said. “Through events like the Hilma af Klint exhibition, the ALMA exhibition, and the Swedish Film Festival, I hope our two countries can continue to build rich and dynamic cultural ties.”
Mayor Park concluded the meeting by saying, “I hope your visit will mark the beginning of even more vibrant exchanges and cooperation between Busan and Sweden. I also hope you take many wonderful memories of Busan back with you.”
