미국 백악관이 22일(현지시간) "중국 동영상 플랫폼 틱톡 미국 사업을 미국인 투자자·이사진이 다수를 차지하는 새로운 합작법인이 맡게 된다"고 밝혔다.
미 'WSJ(월스트리트저널)'에 따르면 캐롤라인 레빗 대변인은 이날 워싱톤 DC 백악관 브리핑에서 틱톡 미국 사업권 매각 합의 관련해 "트럼프 대통령은 이번 주 후반 공식 합의에 서명 예정"이라며 이같이 전했다. 새 합작법인 보안 업무는 미 소프트웨어 기업 오라클이 맡을 예정이다.
그러면서 "오라클은 틱톡 플랫폼에서의 미국 사용자 데이터 관련 안전성·보안을 독립적으로 감시할 것"이라며 "미국인들 데이터는 중국 접근 없이 오라클이 미국 내에서 운영하는 서버들에 저장될 것"이라고 밝혔다.
또 틱톡 콘텐츠 추천 알고리즘 관련해선 "알고리즘은 미국 내에서 학습·재학습돼 운영될 것"이라며 "바이트댄스 통제 밖에 있게 된다"고 전했다.
더불어 합의 기대 효과에 대해 "틱톡 사용 기업들은 향후 4년간 미국에서 최대 1천780억불(약 248조) 경제 활동 효과를 창출할 것으로 기대한다"고 전했다.
합의 사항을 보면 틱톡 새 합작법인 출범시 미 정부와의 협력 하에 미 투자자들이 다수 지분을 보유하게 되고, 국가 안보·사이버보안 분야 자격을 갖춘 이사회 통제를 받게 된다.
미국인 사용자가 1억7천만명이 넘는 틱톡은 모회사가 중국 바이트댄스여서 중국의 개인정보 탈취·해킹에 이용될 수 있다는 우려가 제기돼 온 가운데 미 의회는 지난해 틱톡의 미국 내 사업권을 미국 기업에 매각 않을시 미국 내 틱톡 서비스를 금지하는 '틱톡 금지법'을 제정한 바 있다.
