지난 23일 서울 용산구 백범김구기념관 컨벤션홀에서 열린 ‘대한민국 자치발전 대상’은 특색 있는 자원 활용과 독창적인 행정 서비스로 지역 발전과 혁신적 성과를 거둔 지방자치단체, 지방의회, 국회의원 등에 수여되는 상이다.
남구는 전국 최초로 ‘인구정책국’을 신설하고 인구종합계획 ‘무지개프로젝트’를 추진하며 인구감소 위기에 선제적으로 대응한 점에서 높은 평가를 받았다.
특히 ‘신혼부부 대출이자 지원사업’, ‘대구 최초 산후조리비 지원사업’ 등 주민 체감도가 높은 생활밀착형 정책을 추진해 성과를 인정받았다.
또한 ▲주한미군과 학교를 연계한 ‘글로벌 앞산캠프’, ▲직접 체험하는 지방자치 프로그램 ‘구정체험학교’, ▲주민 중심의 ‘일사천리 복지기동단’, ▲겨울 특화 관광콘텐츠 ‘크리스마스 축제’ 등을 운영하며 지역사회 발전과 경제 활성화에 기여했다.
이 같은 성과로 남구는 민선 7기에 이어 민선 8기에서도 연속 수상의 영예를 안았다.
조재구 남구청장은 “이번 수상은 주민과의 소통을 최우선 가치로 삼고 주민의 목소리를 구정에 반영해 온 노력의 결실”이라며 “앞으로도 진정한 지방시대 실현을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
