경기북부보훈지청이 광복 80주년을 맞아 독립유공자 4명의 유족에게 포상을 전수하며 뒤늦게나마 선열들의 희생을 기리는 뜻깊은 자리를 마련했다.
손순욱 경기북부보훈지청장은 최근 故 공화범·최일남·한종호·이민상 지사 등 4명의 독립유공자 유족에게 포상을 전달했다고 밝혔다.
이 중 3명은 올해 광복 80주년을 계기로 새롭게 독립유공자로 인정받았으며, 1명은 2022년 포상이 결정됐으나 유족이 뒤늦게 확인돼 이번에 전수가 이뤄졌다.

지난 9월 22일 경기북부보훈지청 청사에서 열린 故 이민상 지사 포상 전수식에서는 손자가 외손녀를 대신해 훈장을 수령했다.
이 지사는 1919년 3월 6일 충청남도 부여군 임천면에서 독립만세운동에 참여하다 체포됐으나 불기소 처분을 받았다.
이 공적으로 2022년 대통령표창이 추서됐지만 당시 유족을 찾지 못해 전수가 이뤄지지 못했다.
최근 독립유공자 후손확인위원회 심의를 통해 유족이 확인되면서 2년 만에 포상 전달이 성사됐다.

9월 25일에는 故 최일남 지사의 포상 전수식이 열렸다.
최 지사는 1919년 3월 31일 경기도 양주군(현 남양주시) 진접면 부평리에서 독립만세운동에 참여하다 체포돼 태형 60도를 받았다.
전수식에는 외손자를 대신해 외증손자가 참석했다.

9월 26일 故 공화범 지사의 손녀 자택에서 열린 전수식에서는 증손자가 포상을 받았다.
공 지사는 1928년 전남 무안군 하의면(현 신안군 하의면)에서 일본인 지주의 착취에 맞서 하의농민조합을 조직하고 소작료 불납운동을 주도했다.
농민조합 탄압 세력을 응징하다 체포돼 징역 6월에 집행유예 3년을 선고받았다.

9월 29일에는 故 한종호 지사의 손자 자택에서 포상 전수식이 진행됐다.
한 지사는 1919년 3월 12일 경상북도 칠곡군 약목면 복성동 교회에서 김익시의 권유로 약목시장 장날을 이용한 독립만세운동을 계획하다 체포됐다.
손순욱 지청장은 "조국의 독립을 위해 헌신하신 애국지사님의 희생과 공헌에 깊이 감사드린다"며 "늦게나마 유족분께 포상을 전수해드릴 수 있게 돼 매우 뜻깊고 기쁘게 생각한다"고 말했다.
국가보훈부는 광복 80주년을 맞아 더 많은 독립유공자를 발굴하고, 전달되지 못한 훈장을 유족에게 찾아주는 일에 힘쓰고 있다.
국가를 위해 헌신한 독립유공자들의 희생이 온전히 예우받을 수 있도록 지속적으로 노력해 나갈 계획이다.
