【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=국민의힘 최은석 국회의원은 대구광역시가 중소벤처기업부 주관 ‘2025 지역 주도형 AI 대전환 사업’에 최종 선정됐다고 1일 밝혔다. 이번 선정으로 지역 산업계의 기대감이 한층 높아지고 있다.
이번 사업은 지역 특화산업의 AI 전환을 가속화하고, AI 산업 생태계 조성 기반을 마련하는 것이 목표다.
이를 통해 대구시는 국비 140억 원을 포함한 총사업비 236억 원을 확보하게 됐다.
사업은 ▲AI 솔루션 도입·활용 지원, ▲AI 활용 인프라 구축, ▲AI 인재 양성, ▲AI 성장 서포터 운영 등 4대 핵심 분야로 추진된다.
지역 대표기업의 대규모 AI 선도모델 개발과 실증을 지원하고, 성과를 소규모 기업으로 확산하는 선순환 구조를 구축한다.
특히 동대구벤처밸리 내 구 동대구소방서 후적지에는 ‘대구AI혁신센터’가 조성된다. 이 센터는 AI 데이터센터, 테스트베드, 데이터프리존 등 기업 공동 활용 핵심 인프라를 제공하며, 지역 AI 혁신의 거점 역할을 수행할 예정이다.
사업 주관은 대구광역시가 맡고, 경북대학교 첨단정보통신융합산업기술원이 총괄 운영한다. 여기에 대구기계부품연구원, 대구테크노파크, 대구창조경제혁신센터 등 주요 지역 혁신기관과 15개 중소기업을 포함한 총 21개 기관이 참여한다.
최 의원은 “이번 선정으로 침체된 지역 산업에 새로운 활력을 불어넣고, 대구가 AI 응용서비스 시대의 선두 주자로 도약할 것”이라며, “청년 창업가 중심의 동대구벤처밸리를 거점으로 지역 창업 생태계 활성화에도 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.

Through this, Daegu City has secured a total project cost of 23.6 billion won, including 14 billion won in national funding.
The project will focus on four key areas: ▲support for the introduction and utilization of AI solutions, ▲establishment of AI infrastructure, ▲training of AI talent, and ▲operation of AI growth supporters.
It will support the development and verification of large-scale AI models by leading local companies and establish a virtuous cycle where the results are shared with smaller companies.
Notably, the "Daegu AI Innovation Center" will be established on the former site of the Dongdaegu Fire Station within the Dongdaegu Venture Valley. This center will provide core infrastructure for shared use by businesses, including an AI data center, test bed, and data free zone, and will serve as a hub for regional AI innovation.
The Daegu Metropolitan City will oversee the project, with Kyungpook National University's Advanced Information and Communication Convergence Technology Institute supervising its operation. A total of 21 organizations will participate, including key regional innovation institutions such as the Daegu Machinery Parts Research Institute, Daegu Technopark, and the Daegu Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, as well as 15 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Councilman Choi stated, "This selection will revitalize stagnant local industries and catapult Daegu into a leader in the era of AI application services." He added, "We will also strive to revitalize the local startup ecosystem, leveraging the Dongdaegu Venture Valley, a hub for young entrepreneurs."
