【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구시교육청이 국제 바칼로레아(IB) 교육의 확산을 위해 전국 교육청과 협력해 수업 공개를 이어가고 있다.
대구시교육청은 오는 11월 5일까지 초·중·고 32개 IB 월드스쿨에서 ‘IB 수업 공개’를 순차적으로 진행한다고 13일 밝혔다.
대구를 포함해 서울, 부산, 인천, 경기, 충북, 충남, 대전, 경북, 전남, 전북, 제주 등 12개 시·도교육청의 교사와 교육전문직 470명, 그리고 대구 지역 교원과 학부모 3,500여 명이 참여한다.
이들은 실제 수업을 참관하고, 수업 후 교사·교육청 담당자와 함께 수업·평가 협의회를 통해 의견을 나눈다.
지난 9월 24일 삼영초 수업을 참관한 한 6학년 학생은 “1학년 입학 때부터 스스로 생각하는 힘이 길러졌고, 친구들과 협력하며 배우는 과정이 즐겁다”고 말했다.
한 학부모는 “말수가 적던 아이가 점차 자신의 생각을 표현하고 공부를 즐기는 모습으로 바뀌었다”며 IB 교육의 효과를 체감했다고 전했다.
타 시도 교사들도 “학생들이 스스로 질문하고 탐구하는 모습이 인상 깊다”며 대구형 IB 수업 문화에 관심을 보였다.
강은희 교육감은 “IB 수업 공개는 대구 공교육이 지향하는 세계 수준의 수업 품질을 직접 확인할 수 있는 기회”라며 “앞으로도 미래역량을 갖춘 글로벌 인재 양성을 위해 IB 교육을 지속 확대하겠다”고 말했다.

The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education is collaborating with offices of education nationwide to expand the International Baccalaureate (IB) education, continuing to open its classes.
The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 13th that it will sequentially launch "IB Class Openings" at 32 IB World Schools across elementary, middle, and high schools until November 5th.
A total of 470 teachers and educational professionals from 12 metropolitan and provincial offices of education—including Daegu, Seoul, Busan, Incheon, Gyeonggi, North Chungcheong, South Chungcheong, Daejeon, North Gyeongsang, South Jeolla, North Jeolla, and Jeju—as well as approximately 3,500 teachers and parents from the Daegu area will participate.
They will observe actual classes and, afterward, share their opinions through class and assessment consultations with teachers and office of education officials.
A sixth grader who observed a class at Samyeong Elementary School on September 24th said, "Since entering first grade, I've developed the ability to think independently, and I enjoy learning collaboratively with my peers."
One parent said, "My once reserved child has gradually become more expressive and enjoys studying," expressing the tangible benefits of the IB education.
Teachers from other cities and provinces also expressed interest in the Daegu-style IB classroom culture, saying, "It's impressive to see students asking questions and exploring on their own."
Superintendent Kang Eun-hee stated, "The opening of IB classes is an opportunity to witness firsthand the world-class quality of instruction that Daegu public education strives for. We will continue to expand IB education to cultivate global talent equipped with future capabilities."
