[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시는 스웨덴 빅토리아 왕세녀가 17일 부산을 공식 방문해 양국 간 오랜 우정을 기리고 미래 협력 방안을 논의했다고 밝혔다. 이번 방문에는 왕세녀를 비롯해 스웨덴 대표단 20여 명이 함께했다.
한국전쟁 인연이 만든 특별한 방문
이번 일정은 한국전쟁 당시 스웨덴이 부산에 의료지원단을 파견했던 역사적 인연을 되새기고, 이를 기반으로 한·스웨덴 간 교류를 더욱 강화하기 위해 마련됐다.
1950년 전쟁 발발 이후 스웨덴은 부산에 야전병원을 설치해 인도적 지원에 나섰으며, 이를 계기로 부산과 스웨덴은 경제, 문화, 예술 등 다양한 분야에서 긴밀한 협력 관계를 유지해왔다.
참전 기념식·환영 오찬으로 양국 우의 다져
빅토리아 왕세녀 일행은 이날 오전 태종대에서 열린 ‘스웨덴 야전병원 파견 75주년 기념식’에 참석했다. 이어 부산진구의 스웨덴 참전기념비를 찾아 헌화를 진행하며 한국전 참전을 기린 뒤, 박형준 시장이 주재한 ‘스웨덴 빅토리아 왕세녀 부산 공식 방문 환영 오찬’에 함께했다.

이날 오찬에는 박 시장과 왕세녀를 비롯해 부산에 진출한 스웨덴 기업인, 영화계 인사 등 약 40여 명이 참석했다.
박형준 시장은 환영사에서 “부산에 있는 스웨덴 기업들이 지역사회와 함께 성장해 나가고 있다”며 “이번 방문이 부산과 스웨덴 양국의 새로운 협력을 여는 첫걸음이 되길 바란다”고 말했다.
현대미술관서 양국 예술 교류의 장 마련
오찬 이후 대표단은 부산현대미술관을 찾아 스웨덴 작가 힐마 아프 클린트의 전시 《힐마 아프 클린트: 적절한 소환》과 스웨덴의 아스트리드 린드그렌 추모상(ALMA) 관련 전시 《책과 그림이 앉은 자리》를 관람했다.
이 자리에서 왕세녀는 부산 미술계 인사들과 직접 대화를 나누며 “예술은 국경을 넘어 사람들을 연결하는 힘이 있다”고 소감을 전한 것으로 알려졌다.
또한 힐마 아프 클린트 재단 CEO와 부산 지역 미술 전공 학생이 참여한 토크 프로그램이 진행돼, 양국 예술계의 새로운 교류 방향이 논의됐다.

글로벌 허브도시 부산-북유럽 물류 중심 스웨덴, 미래 협력 강화
부산시는 이번 방문을 계기로 글로벌 허브도시를 지향하는 부산과 북유럽의 물류·교역 거점인 스웨덴 간 교류 네트워크가 한층 강화될 것으로 기대했다.
박형준 시장은 “부산과 스웨덴이 함께 미래 비전을 공유하며 혁신과 지속가능한 발전의 길을 걸어가길 바란다”고 강조했다.

Honoring a Historic Connection Rooted in the Korean War
The Swedish royal delegation’s visit to Busan commemorated the historical friendship that began when Sweden dispatched a field hospital to the city during the Korean War in 1950. Since then, Busan and Sweden have maintained close relations in a range of fields, including economics, culture, and the arts.

In the morning, Crown Princess Victoria attended the 75th anniversary ceremony of the Swedish Field Hospital held at the memorial site in Taejongdae. She later paid respects at the Swedish Memorial Monument in Busanjin District, honoring the humanitarian contributions of Swedish personnel during the war.
Official Luncheon Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation
Following the memorial events, Busan Mayor Park Heong-jun hosted an official luncheon to welcome the Crown Princess and the Swedish delegation. The event was attended by local Swedish entrepreneurs, representatives of the Busan film industry, and approximately 40 distinguished guests.
In his welcome remarks, Mayor Park said, “Swedish companies in Busan are growing alongside our community. I hope today marks the beginning of a new era of collaboration between Busan and Sweden”.
Busan Museum of Contemporary Art: A Hub for Art and Dialogue
In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Busan Museum of Contemporary Art, where they explored exhibitions by Swedish artists. The Crown Princess viewed “Hilma af Klint: A Perfect Summons”, dedicated to the pioneering Swedish abstract artist Hilma af Klint, as well as “Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA): Where Books and Pictures Sit Together”, which celebrates ALMA and its cultural impact.
Before touring the exhibits, Victoria met with young Korean curators, artists, and art students, exchanging views on artistic inspiration and cross-cultural understanding. “Art connects people beyond borders,” she reportedly remarked, underscoring the role of creative collaboration in fostering mutual understanding.
Towards a Future-Oriented Partnership
Busan officials highlighted that the royal visit signifies deepening cooperation between Busan, a global hub city, and Sweden, a logistics and trade center of Northern Europe. The visit also reinforced the commitment of both nations to continued partnership in technology, sustainable development, and the creative industries.
As Andreas Carlson, Sweden’s Minister for Rural Affairs, noted, the tour reflected Seoul and Stockholm’s shared goal of strengthening cooperation in “AI, bio, cultural contents, defense, and energy”—areas now also connecting Busan and Sweden through cultural diplomacy.
