브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 미중 정상이 상호 무역 긴장을 완화하기 위한 일련의 조치에 합의했다. 대중국 관세 일부 완화와 중국의 희토류 공급 재개, 대두 수입 재개 등이 포함됐다.
AP, 로이터통신에 따르면 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령은 30일 미중 정상회담 이후 에어포스원 기내 브리핑에서 "여러 요소에 관해 합의를 이뤘다"라며 "매우 많은 양의 (미국산) 대두와 기타 농산물 구매가 즉각 이뤄질 것"이라고 밝혔다.
중국의 대미 희토류 수출 재개도 합의한 것으로 보인다. 트럼프 대통령은 "희토류와 관련해 걸림돌은 전혀 없다"라며 "한동안 (걸림돌이라는 단어가) 우리 단어사전에서 사라지기를 희망한다"라고 했다.
중국의 조치 대가로 미국은 일부 관세를 인하하기로 했다. 트럼프 대통령은 시 주석이 펜타닐 유입 차단에 주력하기로 했다며 이를 근거로 올 초 부과했던 20%의 징벌성 관세를 10%로 낮추겠다고 밝혔다.
트럼프 대통령은 "(나머지) 관세는 이전과 정확히 같다"라며 "(이전의 대중국 관세는) 57%였고, 이제 47%가 됐다"라고 했다. 이날 회담에서는 엔비디아 최신 인공지능(AI) 칩인 블랙웰 칩의 중국 공급 재개에 대해선 논의하지 않았다.
이밖에 우크라이나 전쟁에 관한 양국 협력 등도 이번 회담에서 합의됐다. 대만 문제에 대해서도 논의하지 않은 것으로 보인다.
트럼프 대통령은 일련의 내용을 담은 무역 합의에 양국이 조만간 서명할 것이라며 "(이번 합의는) 1년짜리 합의"라고 했다. 이어 이번 합의를 토대로 매년 중국과 무역 협상에 나설 것이라고 설명했다.

US and China Easing Trade Tensions... "Rare Earths Released, Tariffs Lowered"
The US and Chinese leaders agreed on a series of measures to ease trade tensions. These include partial tariff relief on China, the resumption of China's rare earths supplies, and the resumption of soybean imports.
According to AP and Reuters, U.S. President Donald Trump said in an Air Force One briefing after the U.S.-China summit on the 30th that "we have reached an agreement on a number of elements," and that "there will be very large purchases of (U.S.) soybeans and other agricultural products immediately."
China also appears to have agreed to resume rare earths exports to the US. President Trump stated, "There are absolutely no obstacles to rare earths," adding, "I hope the word 'obstacle' will disappear from our vocabulary for a while."
In return for China's measures, the US agreed to reduce some tariffs. Citing President Xi's commitment to blocking the influx of fentanyl, President Trump announced that he would reduce the punitive tariffs imposed earlier this year from 20% to 10%.
President Trump stated, "The remaining tariffs remain exactly the same as before. They were 57%, and now they're 47%." The meeting did not discuss the resumption of supply to China of Nvidia's latest artificial intelligence (AI) chip, Blackwell.
Other agreements reached during the meeting included cooperation between the two countries regarding the Ukraine War. The Taiwan issue also appears to have been left undiscussed.
President Trump stated that the two countries would soon sign a trade agreement containing a series of provisions, stating, "This is a one-year agreement." He went on to explain that based on this agreement, trade negotiations with China would be held annually.
