【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경북교육청이 정규 수업 참여에 어려움을 겪는 학생을 위해 ‘수업 보듬이’ 자원봉사자 지원 사업을 전국에서 처음으로 시범 운영하고 있다고 5일 밝혔다.
교육청은 9월 도내 초등학교를 대상으로 실태조사를 실시해 지원이 필요한 학생을 선정했다. 이후 해당 학교에 ‘수업 보듬이’ 자원봉사자를 1대1로 배치했다.
보듬이는 수업 시간 내내 학생 곁을 지키며 학습 참여를 독려하고, 돌발 상황이 생기면 즉각 대응해 수업 흐름이 끊기지 않도록 돕는다. 또한 교사와 Wee클래스, 학부모가 함께 학생을 지원할 수 있도록 협력 체계도 마련했다.
보듬이는 공개모집 방식으로 선발됐으며, 학생상담자원봉사자나 사회복지사 등 지역 인력이 참여했다. 위촉 대상자는 관련 교육을 이수한 뒤 학교장이 발급한 위촉장을 받아 교실에 들어간다.
현장 반응도 긍정적으로 나타났다. 경주시 한 교사는 “수업 중 돌발 상황을 안정적으로 관리할 수 있어서 교사가 수업에 집중하기 좋아질 것 같다”고 말했다.
학부모들 역시 “모든 아이가 교실에서 함께 배울 수 있는 환경을 만드는 의미 있는 정책”이라고 평가했다.
경북교육청은 오는 11월 7일까지 학교별 보듬이 배치 현황을 점검하고, 12월에는 운영 컨설팅을 진행할 계획이다. 2026년 1월에는 만족도 조사를 실시해 개선점을 반영하고, 2026학년도부터는 전면 확대 도입을 추진한다.
임종식 경북교육감은 “수업 보듬이는 단순한 인력 지원이 아니라, 교실에서 학생이 안전하게 배우고 성장할 수 있도록 돕는 안전망”이라며 “학생과 교사가 모두 안정적으로 수업에 집중할 수 있는 교육환경을 조성하겠다”고 밝혔다.
