【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=선린대학교(총장 곽진환)는 경상북도 지역혁신중심 대학지원체계(RISE) 사업의 일환으로 지역사회와 연계한 ‘대학의 사회적 책무’ 실현을 위해 마련한 ‘SUNLIN Safety Together’ 프로그램을 22일 믿음관 3층 간호트레이닝센터에서 진행했다고 밝혔다.

이번 프로그램에는 미르벗지역아동센터, 참사랑지역아동센터, 한마음지역아동센터 소속 초등학교 1학년부터 중학교 3학년까지 아동 40여 명이 참여해 안전 역량을 체험하며 학습하는 시간을 가졌다.
선린대학교는 교수진, 실습실, 시뮬레이션 장비, 학생 멘토단 등 대학의 교육자원을 지역사회에 개방해 △아동 안전 역량 강화 △대학의 사회적 가치 실현을 동시에 달성한다는 목표로 프로그램을 기획·운영했다.
특히 간호학부 학생회 및 재학생 40여 명이 멘토로 참여해 심폐소생술 실습, 응급처치 체험, 활력징후 측정, 간호학 실습실 투어 등 다양한 활동을 진행했다. 아동과 멘토들이 하루 동안 함께하며 단순한 이론 수업을 넘어 돌봄·소통·성장 경험을 공유했다는 점에서 더욱 의미 있는 사회공헌 활동으로 평가된다.
GB대학 봉사단장 최진 교수는 “이번 프로그램은 선린대학교가 지역 아동에게 안전과 생명의 가치를 직접 전달한 실천적 교육 현장”이라며 “지역과 대학이 함께 만드는 안전·건강 공동체 구축을 위해 앞으로도 지속적으로 지원하겠다”고 말했다.
또한 한마음지역아동센터 박선영 센터장은 “아이들이 체계적인 심폐소생술 및 실습형 안전교육을 직접 경험할 수 있어 매우 뜻깊었다”며 “간호학과 학생 멘토들의 친절한 안내 덕분에 교육에 적극적으로 참여하며 안전의 중요성을 자연스럽게 배울 수 있었다”고 소감을 전했다.
선린대학교는 앞으로도 RISE 사업을 기반으로 지역아동복지센터와의 협력을 확대하고 다양한 안전·건강 교육 프로그램을 정례화해 지역사회와 상생하는 지속가능한 사회가치 실현 모델을 구축해 나갈 계획이다.

Sunlin University Operates "SUNLIN Safety Together" Safety Experience Program for Local Children
Sunlin University (President Kwak Jin-hwan) announced that it held the "SUNLIN Safety Together" program on the 22nd at the Nursing Training Center on the 3rd floor of the Faith Hall. This program, part of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Regional Innovation-Oriented University Support System (RISE) project, aims to fulfill the university's social responsibility by collaborating with the local community.
Approximately 40 children, ranging from first graders in elementary school to third graders in middle school, from Mirbut Community Children's Center, Chamsarang Community Children's Center, and Hanmaeum Community Children's Center, participated in the program. They experienced and learned safety skills.
Sunlin University planned and operated the program with the goal of simultaneously strengthening children's safety skills and realizing the university's social value by opening up its educational resources, including faculty, labs, simulation equipment, and student mentors, to the local community.
In particular, approximately 40 students from the Nursing Student Council and the College of Nursing served as mentors, participating in various activities such as CPR training, first aid experience, vital sign measurement, and a tour of the nursing lab. This program was particularly meaningful because the children and mentors spent a day together, sharing experiences of care, communication, and growth beyond mere theoretical instruction.
Professor Choi Jin, Director of the GB University Volunteer Corps, stated, "This program was a practical educational opportunity where Sunlin University directly taught local children the value of safety and life. We will continue to support the development of a safe and healthy community, fostered by the local community and the university."
Park Seon-young, Director of the Hanmaeum Community Children's Center, added, "It was truly meaningful for the children to experience systematic CPR and hands-on safety training firsthand. Thanks to the kind guidance of the nursing student mentors, they actively participated in the training and naturally learned the importance of safety."
Going forward, Seonlin University plans to expand its collaboration with local child welfare centers based on the RISE project and establish a model for realizing sustainable social value that coexists with the local community by regularly implementing various safety and health education programs.
