전북특별자치도가 인도네시아 서부 수마트라주와 공식 우호 교류 협약을 체결했다.
이번 협약은 지난 2023년 우호 교류의향서(LOI) 체결 이후 2년간 시범 사업을 운영하며 성과를 확인한 끝에 제도적 협력 단계로 격상됐다.
25일 김관영 전북지사는 인도네시아 서부 수마트라주 마히엘디 안샤룰라(Mahyeldi Ansharullah) 주지사와 우호 교류 협약(MOU)을 체결하고 동남아시아 지역과의 협력 영토 확장에 의지를 모았다.
양 지역은 이번 협약으로 농업 혁신ㆍ환경 생태ㆍ문화정책ㆍ교육 및 청년 분야를 중심으로 협력한다.
전북자치도는 그동안 실질적 교류 추진을 위해 6개월 내 세부 이행계획을 수립하고 정례 실무협의체를 구성해 단계별 사업을 진행할 계획이다.
협약서에는 ▲ 행정·정책·민간부문 전반의 포괄적 교류 ▲ 새만금 한글학당 등 교육 협력 사업 ▲ 관광 및 경제 발전 ▲ 농업ㆍ환경 분야 인적교류를 통한 역량 강화 ▲ 유전자원과 전통 지식 및 전통문화 표현의 가치 보호 등이 담겼다.
특히 공동실무위원회를 설치해 매년 1회 이상 교대로 회의를 개최해 협력 사업을 기획하고 모니터링한다.
김관영 전북지사는 "인도네시아는 동남아 지역 최대의 한류 열풍 거점이자 현 정부의 외교 정책인 아태전략의 가장 중요한 전략적 동반자 관계로 떠오르고 있다"며 "서부 수마트라 주는 인도네시아에서도 농업ㆍ식문화ㆍ관광 등 전북특별자치도와 공통점이 많아 다양한 분야에서 시너지 효과를 낼 수 있을 것으로 기대한다"고 말했다.
