(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 부평구가 인천 최초로 추진한 ‘굴포천 생태하천 복원사업’을 마치고, 30년 만에 콘크리트 안에 잠자던 굴포천을 구민들에게 돌려준다고 밝혔다.
부평구에 따르면, 구는 4일 부평1동행정복지센터 인근에 위치한 굴포천 생태하천 복원 구간 시점에서 ‘굴포천 생태하천 물맞이 행사’를 열었다.
이날 행사에는 차준택 부평구청장을 비롯해 유정복 인천시장 등이 참석했다.
이 자리에서 차준택 구청장은 사업 경과를 보고받은 뒤 복원구간 시점부 악취차단시설을 확인한 뒤 유지용수 제수변을 개방, 굴포천 복원구간에 하천유지용수 공급을 시작했다.
‘굴포천 생태하천 복원사업’은 도시화 과정에서 콘크리트로 덮여 본래의 기능을 잃었던 하천을 도심 속 수변·친수·생태 공간으로 조성하는 사업이다.
부평1동 행정복지센터에서 부평구청까지 1.5㎞구간이며, 총 845억원(생태하천 복원사업 666억원·하수관로 정비사업 179억원)의 사업비가 들어갔다.
굴포천 복원구간의 하천수는 굴포하수처리장 방류수를 취수해 별도 재이용시설에서 소독처리를 통해 일 4만톤이 공급될 예정이다.
복원된 구간은 하천의 자정능력 회복과 악취 저감에 더욱 효과적인 환경이 조성될 전망이며, 수질 개선과 생태기반 형성에도 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.
