【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=국민의힘 김승수 의원(대구 북구을·국회 문화체육관광위원회)이 지난 8일 어울아트센터 함지홀에서 ‘구암동 고분군–팔거산성 역사문화관광벨트 조성 토론회’를 열고, 지역 내 문화유산의 보존과 활용 방안에 대해 논의했다.
이날 토론회에는 주민 200여 명이 참석해 지역 문화유산에 대한 높은 관심을 보였다.
이번 토론회는 북구 곳곳에 산재한 문화유산을 어떻게 체계적으로 보존하고, 관광 및 교육 자원으로 연계할 수 있을지 전략을 찾기 위해 마련됐다. 허민 국가유산청장과 유홍준 국립중앙박물관장은 영상 축사를 통해 북구 문화유산의 중요성과 적극적인 활용의 필요성을 강조했다.
김승수 의원은 개회사를 통해 “팔거산성이 국가사적으로 지정될 수 있었던 데에는 주민과 연구자, 관계기관의 노력이 있었기 때문”이라고 밝히며, “북구는 선사부터 근현대까지 다양한 문화유산이 존재하는 만큼 이를 하나의 관광벨트로 묶는 논의가 필요하다”고 말했다.
이날 발제에서는 김상현 화랑문화유산연구원 실장과 박현정 대동문화유산연구원 팀장이 팔거산성과 구암동 고분군의 조사 결과를 발표했다. 이들은 해당 유적이 신라 시대 성곽 축조와 지역 유력층의 생활을 보여주는 대표적 유적임을 설명했다.
또한 송석규 경북대 관광학과 교수는 북구 문화유산을 역사, 생태, 도시 자원과 연계한 ‘역사문화관광벨트’ 조성의 필요성을 제안하며, “체류형 관광을 통해 지역경제 활성화도 기대할 수 있다”고 밝혔다.
종합토론에서는 학술조사의 지속, 콘텐츠 개발, 박물관·센터 등 거점 시설 구축의 필요성이 제기됐다. 대구시는 구암동 고분군과 팔거산성의 발굴·정비, 사유지 매입, 관리센터 조성 계획 등을 설명하며 단계적 추진 의지를 내비쳤다.
김승수 의원은 “구암동 고분군과 팔거산성의 체계적 보존과 정비를 위해 발굴을 우선 추진해 왔다”며 “앞으로도 금호강·하중도와 연계해 관광명소로 발전시켜 주민과 관광객 모두가 찾는 공간으로 만들어가겠다”고 말했다.

He added, "Buk-gu possesses diverse cultural heritage spanning from prehistoric to modern times, and we need to discuss how to integrate these diverse heritages into a single tourism belt."
In the presentations, Kim Sang-hyun, Director of the Hwarang Cultural Heritage Research Institute, and Park Hyeon-jeong, Team Leader of the Daedong Cultural Heritage Research Institute, presented the results of their investigation of the Palgeosanseong Fortress and the Guam-dong Ancient Tombs. They explained that these sites are representative examples of the construction of Silla-era fortresses and the lifestyles of the local elite.
Furthermore, Song Seok-gyu, Professor of Tourism at Kyungpook National University, proposed the creation of a "Historical and Cultural Tourism Belt" linking the cultural heritage of Buk-gu with historical, ecological, and urban resources. He stated, "We can also expect to revitalize the local economy through residential tourism."
The general discussion highlighted the need for continued academic research, content development, and the establishment of key facilities such as museums and centers. The Daegu City government demonstrated its commitment to a phased approach, explaining its plans for the excavation and maintenance of the Guam-dong Ancient Tombs and the Palgeosanseong Fortress, the acquisition of private land, and the establishment of a management center.
Rep. Kim Seung-soo said, “We have prioritized excavation for the systematic preservation and maintenance of the Guam-dong Ancient Tombs and Palgeosanseong Fortress,” and added, “We will continue to develop them into tourist attractions in connection with the Geumho River and Hajungdo Islands, making them a space visited by both residents and tourists.”
