매주 일정이 빽빽하게 차 있다. 특히 라이온스 클럽을 시작으로 로터리 클럽 미팅까지 연이어 잡혀 있다.
60년이 넘는 전통을 지닌 이 라이온스 클럽은 남성만 가입할 수 있는 모임이지만,
이날은 크리스마스 파티여서 배우자를 동반한 자리였고, 덕분에 여성들의 모습도 눈에 띄었다.
주축이 대부분 변호사들인 이 클럽의 크리스마스 파티에서는
내가 산타가 되어 오리가미로 산타를 만드는 시연을 선보였고, 분위기는 내내 유쾌하고 따뜻했다.
사실 이날은 나의 생일이었지만, 그 사실을 누구에게도 알리지 않은 채 오로지 산타 역할에만 집중했다.
정찬 비용만 해도 120스위스 프랑에 이르는 자리였는데, 회장의 초대로 무료로 참석하게 되었다.
그 모든 순간이 어우러져, 나는 생일과 크리스마스를 함께 맞이하며 더없이 만족스럽고 보람찬 하루를 보냈다.
My weekly schedule is always full. In particular,
meetings with the Lions Club are followed closely by Rotary Club gatherings.
The Lions Club, with a history of over sixty years, is traditionally a men-only organization.
However, as this was a Christmas party, spouses were invited, and women were also present.
Composed largely of lawyers, the club hosted a warm and joyful Christmas celebration.
On that day, I took on the role of Santa Claus and demonstrated how to make origami Santa figures,
which added a special delight to the event.
In fact, it was my birthday, but I chose not to mention it to anyone and devoted myself entirely to being Santa.
The formal dinner alone was worth 120 Swiss francs, yet I was invited free of charge by the club president.
All these moments came together to make it a deeply satisfying and meaningful day
—one in which I celebrated both Christmas and my birthday with great joy.

特に、ライオンズクラブに始まり、ロータリークラブの例会まで続いている。
60年以上の歴史を持つこのライオンズクラブは、
男性のみが入会できる伝統的なクラブだが、
この日はクリスマスパーティーのため配偶者同伴となり、
女性の姿も多く見られた。会員の多くが弁護士というこのクラブのパーティーでは、
私がサンタクロース役となり、折り紙でサンタを作る実演を行い、
会場は終始和やかで楽しい雰囲気に包まれていた。
実はこの日は私の誕生日でもあったが、そのことは誰にも伝えず、
ただサンタとしての役割に徹した。正餐の費用だけでも120スイスフランに及ぶが、
会長の招待により無料で参加することができた。
こうして、クリスマスと誕生日を同時に祝うことができたこの日は、
非常に満足感に満ちた、意義深い一日となった。
