[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산대학교가 동남권 대학들과 손잡고 첨단 이차전지 연구 거점 구축에 나섰다.
부산대는 지난 16일 오후 해운대 그랜드조선호텔 부산에서 ‘부산대 첨단배터리기술센터 출범식 및 동남권 이차전지 대학 연구 협의체 업무협약(MoU) 체결식’을 열었다고 18일 밝혔다.
이번 센터 출범과 협의체 구성은 정부의 ‘5극 3특’ 국가균형발전 정책과 ‘서울대 10개 만들기’ 구상에 대응해 동남권 지역거점 대학으로서 연구 역량을 집중하고 초광역 협력 기반을 강화하기 위한 선제 조치다.
부산대 RISE(라이즈) 사업단과 이차전지 혁신융합대학 사업단이 공동 주관한 이날 행사에는 부산시, 부산라이즈혁신원 관계자, 이차전지 관련 교수·연구진, 동남권 기업 및 정부출연연구기관 관계자 등이 참석했다.
출범한 부산대 첨단배터리기술센터(센터장 박민준·첨단융합학부 교수)는 첨단 이차전지 핵심 기술 개발과 산학연 협력을 중심으로 △공동 연구 △전문 인재 양성 △기술 사업화 등을 추진할 계획이다. 센터는 수도권 중심의 연구 구조에서 벗어나 동남권이 주도하는 초광역 이차전지 연구 거점으로 성장하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다.
또한, 함께 구성된 ‘동남권 이차전지 대학 연구 협의체’는 부산대를 비롯한 울산·경남권 8개 대학(경상국립대, 부경대, 창원대, 한국해양대, 동아대, 신라대, UNIST)이 참여해 공동 연구와 인재 양성, 산학연 연계 활동을 단계적으로 추진할 예정이다.
박민준 센터장은 “센터 출범은 동남권 대학이 첨단 이차전지 분야를 주도하기 위한 출발점”이라며 “대학 간 협력과 산학연 연계를 통해 국가 이차전지 산업 경쟁력 강화에 기여하겠다”고 말했다.

Pusan National University (PNU) has launched the Advanced Battery Technology Center and established a new research consortium among southeastern universities to boost the region’s competitiveness in the secondary battery sector.
On December 16, PNU (President Choi Jae-won) held the inauguration ceremony for the *Advanced Battery Technology Center* and signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the *Southeastern University Battery Research Consortium* at the Grand Josun Hotel Busan, the university announced on the 18th.
The initiative is part of PNU’s proactive response to the government’s “Five Poles and Three Specialized Zones” balanced national development policy and its “Ten Seoul National Universities” initiative. It aims to consolidate PNU’s research capacity in advanced secondary battery technology and establish a foundation for large-scale regional collaboration as a leading university in the southeastern region.
The event was co-hosted by PNU’s RISE Project Group and the Secondary Battery Innovation and Convergence University Project Group, with participation from representatives of the Busan Metropolitan City Government, Busan RISE Innovation Institute, industry experts, researchers, and officials from government-funded research institutes.
Led by Professor Park Min-jun of the School of Advanced Convergence Studies, the newly launched *Advanced Battery Technology Center* will focus on core technology development, industry-academia-research cooperation, and the systematic promotion of joint research, talent cultivation, and technology commercialization. The center is expected to serve as a key regional hub beyond the Seoul-centered research structure.
The *Southeastern University Battery Research Consortium* brings together eight universities in the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region—PNU, Gyeongsang National University, Pukyong National University, Changwon National University, Korea Maritime and Ocean University, Dong-A University, Silla University, and UNIST—to pursue joint research, professional training, and collaborative industrial initiatives.
“The center’s launch marks a new starting point for southeastern universities to lead the nation’s secondary battery research,” said Professor Park. “Through inter-university cooperation and strong industry-academia-research networks, we aim to contribute to strengthening Korea’s battery industry competitiveness.”
