국제 프로테스탄트 교회 초정 시니어 크리스마스 만찬 자리에서 오리가미를 가르치며,
모두가 웃음과 기쁨으로 하나 되는 귀한 하루를 보냈다.
종이 한 장이 접히며 마음이 열리고, 손끝에서 작은 기적이 태어나는 그 순간들이 참으로 감사했다.
수학의 원리를 담은 오리가미라는 재주를 내게 허락하신 하나님께 깊은 감사를 드린다.
이 재능을 통해 사람들을 만나고, 가르치고, 함께 즐길 수 있음이 곧 축복임을 다시금 느낀다.
시니어들 가운데에는 “나는 못해”라며 처음부터 마음의 문을 닫는 분들도 계셨다.
그러나 그중 몇 분은 놀라울 만큼 맑은 집중력과 통찰력을 보여주셨다.
손은 느릴지 몰라도 생각은 여전히 빛나고 있었다.
오리가미는 손재주보다 의지와 마음의 태도가 먼저다.
어렵다고 생각하는 순간, 이미 길은 멀어지고
해보겠다고 마음먹는 순간, 종이는 스스로 답을 보여준다.
같은 하트 접기에서도
어떤 이는 끝내 완성하지 못했고
어떤 이는 설명 한 번에 미소와 함께 완성해 보였다.
그날 나는 다시 깨달았다.
나이는 숫자일 뿐,
수학과 두뇌, 그리고 배움의 기쁨은
끝까지 살아 있는 사람에게 여전히 자란다는 것을.
At the Senior Christmas Dinner hosted by the International Protestant Church,
I taught origami, and it became a day filled with smiles, laughter, and shared joy.
As a single sheet of paper folded, hearts unfolded—and small miracles were born at our fingertips.
I give heartfelt thanks to God for blessing me with the gift of origami rooted in mathematical principles.
Through this gift, I can meet people, teach them, and share joy—
and I realize once again how great a blessing that truly is.
Some seniors closed their hearts at first, saying, “I can’t do this.”
Yet among them were a few whose clarity, focus, and insight shone brightly.
Though their hands moved slowly, their minds were still full of light.
Origami is not about dexterity—it begins with willingness and attitude.
The moment one believes it is too difficult, the path grows distant.
But the moment one decides to try, the paper itself begins to reveal the answer.
Even while folding the same heart,
some struggled until the end,
while others completed it instantly, smiling with quiet pride.
That day reminded me of a simple truth:
Age is only a number.
The mind, mathematics, and the joy of learning
continue to grow in those who choose to keep them alive.
国際プロテスタント教会のシニア・クリスマス会で折り紙を教え、
笑顔と温もりに満ちた尊い一日を過ごしました。
一枚の紙が折られるたびに、心がほどけ、指先から小さな奇跡が生まれていく――
その時間に深い感謝を覚えました。
数学の原理を込めた折り紙という才能を授けてくださった神様に、心から感謝しています。
この賜物を通して人と出会い、教え、喜びを分かち合えることこそが、何よりの祝福だと感じます。
「できない」と最初から心を閉ざすシニアの方もいました。
しかしその中に、驚くほど鋭い集中力と理解力を持つ方が何人もいらっしゃいました。
手はゆっくりでも、思考は今もなお輝いていました。
折り紙は器用さよりも、まず心の姿勢と意志です。
難しいと思った瞬間、道は遠くなり、
やってみようと決めた瞬間、紙は答えを語り始めます。
同じハート折りでも、
最後まで苦戦する人がいる一方で、
説明を一度聞いただけで、静かな笑顔とともに完成させる人もいました。
その日、私は改めて悟りました。
年齢はただの数字。
数学も、脳も、学ぶ喜びも、
生きる意志のある人の中で、今も成長し続けているのだと。
