이재명 대통령이 8일 "영원한 적·우방·규칙도 없는 냉혹한 국제질서 속에서 대한민국 운명은 직접 개척하는 국익 중심 실용외교에 달렸다"고 주장했다. 이 대통령은 이날 오후 청와대에서 열린 수석보좌관회의에서 이같이 말하며 "앞으로도 치밀하고 유연한 실용외교를 통해 주변과의 협력 기반을 넓히며 국익을 지키고 국력을 키워 국민 삶을 더 적극 개선하겠다"고 했다. 그러면서 "이번 (중국) 순방을 통해 한·중 관계 전면 복원의 든든한 토대가 마련됐다"며 "경제·문화 전반 교류 협력을 한층 더 강화하기 위한 발판도 구축했다"고 주장했다.
또 "전세계가 각축을 벌이고 있는 AI(인공지능) 대전환은 개별 기업을 넘어 국가 명운을 가르는 요소로 발전했다"며 "인공지능이 사회 전 분야에서 질적 대전환 토대로 활용될 수 있도록 인재 확보·인프라 확충·글로벌 협력 강화에 속도 내주기 바란다"고 했다.
이어 "에너지 대전환도 착실히 준비해가야겠다"며 "미래 에너지를 어떻게 준비하느냐, 전환에 맞춰 어떻게 대비하느냐에 따라 성장은 물론 운명도 결정될 수 있다는 점을 직시하고 잘 준비해가야겠다"고 했다.
한편 청와대도 이날 오후 춘추관 브리핑에서 "이번 방문은 국익 중심 실용 외교를 국제사회에 분명 인식시키는 계기가 됐다"며 "외교서 가장 중요한 건 정상 간 신뢰며 근본적으로 각국 국민 마음이란 대통령 말처럼 중국 국민 마음을 연 건 이번 방중 외교의 또 다른 성과라 할 수 있다"고 주장했다.
