오태완 의령군수 항소심 직위 유지형 '벌금 700'

[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 2021년 6월 의령의 한 식당에서 군청 출입 기자들과 간담회를 하던 중 여성 기자를 강제 추행한 혐의로 고소당하자, 해당 기자를 무고 및 명예훼손으로 허위 고소한 혐의로 기소된 오태완 의령군수가 13일 항소심에서 직위 유지형으로 감형을 받았다.

창원지법 형사1부(부장판사 이주연)는 이날 오 군수의 무고 혐의 사건 항소심에서 징역 8개월에 집행유예 2년을 선고한 원심을 파기하고 벌금 700만 원을 선고했다.

이에 오 군수는 13일 입장문을 내고 "법원의 판결을 겸허히 받아들이며 군민 여러분께 심려를 끼쳐드린 점을 진심으로 사과드린다"며 "이번 일을 깊이 새기며 공직자로서 책임과 자세를 돌아보겠다"고 말했다.

오 군수는 "아직 사법 절차가 남아 있는 만큼 관련 과정에 신중하고 성실하게 임하며, 군정에 공백이 발생하지 않도록 군수로서 최선을 다하겠다"면서 "앞으로는 법과 원칙을 엄중히 새기고 책임 있는 자세로 군민 신뢰를 회복하겠다"고 강조했다.
