사단법인 영토지킴이독도사랑회가 2026년 새해 첫 사업으로 해외 문화교류 봉사활동에 나선다.

독도사랑회는 오는 1월 24일부터 29일까지 5박 6일간 필리핀 알베이주 리가오시와 관내 판단초등학교를 방문해 교육환경 개선과 문화교류, 독도 알리기 활동을 펼칠 예정이다.
이번 해외 봉사활동은 봉사를 통해 우리 땅 독도를 알린다는 취지 아래 추진됐으며 단순한 물품 지원을 넘어 문화와 역사, 교육을 매개로 한 국제 교류 모델을 실천한다는 점에서 의미가 크다.
현지 학교에는 에어컨과 선풍기, 책상과 의자 등 학습 기자재 100세트가 지원되며 학생들과 함께 독도 에코백 만들기, 독도는 우리 땅 노래 배우기 등 체험형 문화 프로그램도 함께 진행된다.
이번 행사는 독도사랑회가 주관하고 동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스 교육혁신지원사업팀과 동경장학회, 학생서비스팀이 지원했으며 독도사랑회 길종성 중앙회장을 비롯해 필리핀지부 이반젤린 판타나오킴 회장, 필리핀 국제교류봉사협회 김성한 이사장, 동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스 길종구 교수, 독도사랑회 임원 및 대학생 봉사단 20여 명이 참여한다.
특히 리가오시는 2007년부터 동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스와 지속적인 교류를 이어오고 있으며 동국인의 거리를 지정할 만큼 각별한 인연을 맺고 있는 곳이다.
매년 학생 봉사단을 이끌고 필리핀 교류에 앞장서 온 길종구 교수는 필리핀은 한국전쟁 당시 아시아 국가 중 가장 먼저 지상군을 파병해 준 나라라며 이제는 우리가 받은 도움을 되돌려주고 독도에 대한 올바른 인식과 국제사회와 나누는 실천이 필요하다고 강조했다.
독도사랑회는 2003년부터 필리핀과의 문화교류를 시작으로 소방차 기증, 사랑의 집짓기, 환경정화, 나무 심기 등 다양한 국제 봉사활동을 꾸준히 이어오고 있다.
이반젤린 판타나오킴 필리핀지부 회장은 독도를 알리는 일은 외침이 아니라 신뢰와 공감에서 시작된다며 매년 독도를 매개로 평화와 연대, 공존의 가치를 나누는 활동에 감사를 표했다.
행사를 주관한 길종성 중앙회장은 필리핀 알베이주와 마스바테주에 소방차를 기증하고 사랑의 집짓기 활동을 펼치는 등 공로를 인정받아 해당 지역의 명예대사로 위촉된 바 있다.
