브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 국민 치약으로 불리는 애경산업의 ‘2080 치약’ 중 일부 수입 제품에서 국내 사용이 엄격히 금지된 화학 물질인 ‘트리클로산(Triclosan)’이 검출돼 소비자들의 주의가 요구된다.
트리클로산은 항균 효과가 있지만 호르몬 체계 교란, 간 기능 저하, 항생제 내성균 유발 우려가 있어 한국은 2016년부터 구강용품에 사용을 전면 금지하고 있다.
식품의약품안전처는 20일 브리핑을 통해 애경산업이 중국 제조소 ‘도미(Domy)’로부터 수입해 유통한 2080 치약 6종을 전수 검사한 결과, 총 870개 제조번호 중 87%(754개)에서 트리클로산이 검출됐다고 발표했다.
식약처의 현지 실사 결과, 이번 사건의 원인은 중국 현지 공장의 공정 관리 부실로 드러났다. 중국 제조사인 도미(Domy)사가 2023년 4월부터 치약 제조 장비를 세척·소독하는 과정에서 트리클로산 성분의 용액을 사용했고, 장비에 잔류한 성분이 치약 배합 과정에서 섞여 들어간 것이다. 작업자마다 소독액 사용량이 달라 제품별로 검출량에 차이가 발생한 것으로 파악됐다.
단, 식약처는 전문가 자문을 인용해 “검출된 수치(최대 0.16%)는 국제 기준(0.3%) 이하로, 실제 인체에 위해를 가할 우려는 낮은 수준”이라고 설명했다. 트리클로산은 체내에 축적되지 않고 빠르게 배출되는 특성이 있기 때문이다.
아울러 식약처는 애경산업이 국내에서 직접 제조한 128종의 치약에서는 트리클로산이 전혀 검출되지 않았으므로, 국산 2080 제품은 사용해도 된다고 전했다.
