【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구 중구가 장기 방치된 빈집으로 인한 안전사고를 예방하고 주거환경을 개선하기 위해 대대적인 정비에 나선다.
중구는 올해 4억5천만 원을 들여 지역 내 빈집 약 15곳을 정비할 계획이라고 22일 밝혔다.
정비 대상은 붕괴나 화재 등 안전사고 발생 우려가 크거나, 주변 주거환경을 저해하고 있는 주택용 빈집이다. 중구는 빈집 실태조사와 주민 의견을 바탕으로 구조적으로 위험하거나 민원이 잦은 곳을 우선 선정해 정비에 들어간다는 방침이다.
선정된 빈집은 필요에 따라 철거하거나 각종 안전조치를 진행할 예정이다. 이후 부지는 주차장, 주민 쉼터 같은 공공용지로 조성해 활용할 계획이다. 정비 과정에는 인근 주민의 의견을 적극 반영해 활용 방안을 결정하고, 사업이 완료된 이후에도 중구가 직접 관리하거나 주민자치회, 마을관리단 등과 협력해 운영할 방침이다.
중구는 지난해에도 빈집 5곳을 정비해 지역 내 안전 우려를 줄이고 생활환경을 개선한 바 있다. 이에 따라 올해는 정비 규모를 더욱 확대하고, 빈집 문제가 심각해지기 전에 선제적으로 대응하겠다는 입장이다.
올해 사업 일정은 상반기 내 빈집 실태조사와 대상지 선정을 마치고, 행정 절차를 거쳐 하반기까지 순차적으로 정비를 추진한다. 중구는 모든 정비 사업을 연내에 마무리할 계획이다.
중구 관계자는 “방치된 빈집의 정비를 통해 안전사고를 줄이고, 유휴 공간을 주민의 생활·휴식 공간으로 바꿔 지역 공동체 활성화에도 보탬이 될 것”이라고 기대감을 드러냈다.
류규하 중구청장은 “빈집 문제는 도시 안전과 주거환경 개선을 위해 반드시 해결해야 할 과제”라며 “정비사업을 통해 주민이 안심하고 생활할 수 있는 쾌적한 환경을 만들어가겠다”고 말했다.
