진주시, KAI 회전익 비행센터 운영 1주년

[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 22일 시청 브리핑룸에서 기자회견을 열고 KAI 회전익 비행센터 운영 1주년 성과를 발표하며 지역 우주항공산업의 핵심 인프라로 성장했다고 밝혔다.

회전익 비행센터는 지난 2024년 12월 준공돼 헬기 시험비행과 성능 검증, 비행 안전성 평가를 수행하며 해병대·해군 헬기 개발을 지원하는 시설로 안정적인 운영 단계에 들어섰다.

KAI는 가산일반산업단지에 약 475억원을 투자해 센터를 건립했으며, 향후 부지 매입까지 포함하면 총 투자 규모는 약 1000억원에 이를 것으로 전망된다.

진주시는 회전익 비행센터를 기반으로 무인기와 미래항공기체(AAV) 개발로 산업 영역을 확장하고, 항공 관련 정부기관 유치를 통해 산업 집적화를 추진할 계획이다.

진주시는 “회전익 비행센터를 중심으로 청년 일자리 창출과 지역 산업 경쟁력을 강화하겠다”며“우주항공산업을 진주의 미래 성장동력으로 키워 나가겠다”고 말했다.
