감곡면은 전국적으로 맛있기로 소문난 햇사레 복숭아의 주산지다. 또한, 경기도 이천시와 접경하고 있어 수도권에서 접근성이 매우 우수한 지역이다.
군은 수도권 못지않은 정주 환경과 지역발전을 견인하기 위해 △도시재생 인정·뉴딜사업 △중부내륙선 지선 제5차 국가철도망 구축사업 △감곡역세권 도시개발 △감곡면 국민체육센터 건립 △상우산단 기회발전특구 육성 △감곡119안전센터 이전 △왕장 도시침수 대응사업 등 다양한 정책을 추진한다.
