브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 포켓몬코리아가 KBS 키즈와 손잡고 포켓몬 카드 게임 대회 ‘2026 KBS Kids 배틀 토너먼트’를 개최한다.
㈜포켓몬코리아는 대한민국 어린이 전문 채널 ‘KBS 키즈’와 스폰서십을 체결하고, 포켓몬 카드 게임 대회 ‘2026 KBS Kids 배틀 토너먼트’를 오는 31일부터 진행한다고 28일 밝혔다.
이번 대회는 전국 포켓몬 카드샵 10개 매장에서 지역 예선으로 시작된다. 지역 예선은 ▲용산 ▲역삼 ▲수원 ▲원주 ▲인천 ▲광주 ▲평택 ▲울산 ▲대구 ▲부산에서 오는 31일부터 2월 22일까지 순차적으로 열린다. 본선 대회는 2월 28일 동대문디자인플라자(DDP) 아트홀 2관에서 개최된다.
대회는 포켓몬 카드 게임의 전략적 재미를 유지하면서도 초심자도 쉽게 참여할 수 있도록 초심자용 구축덱을 그대로 사용하는 방식으로 진행돼 진입 장벽을 낮췄다.
본선 대회 당일에는 현장 예선도 함께 열리며, 지역 예선 탈락자를 포함한 참가자들이 본선 진출을 놓고 다시 한번 승부를 겨룰 예정이다.
참가 신청은 ‘포켓몬 카드 게임’ 공식 홈페이지를 통한 온라인 사전 예약과 각 카드샵의 잔여석에 한해 현장 접수로 가능하다. 참가비는 없으며 누구나 무료로 참여할 수 있다.
KBS 키즈 관계자는 “전 세계적으로 사랑받는 포켓몬 카드 게임과 함께하게 되어 기쁘다”며 “방송을 통해 콘텐츠를 즐기는 데서 나아가 직접 배틀하고 소통하며 성장할 수 있는 건강한 놀이 문화가 확산될 수 있도록 함께 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
