[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 29일 시청에서 ‘지역안전지수 향상 T/F 추진단’과 유관기관 관계자 50여 명이 참석해 ‘2026년 지역안전지수 개선과제 보고회’를 개최했다.
이번 지역안전지수는 교통사고·화재·범죄·생활안전·자살·감염병 등 6개 분야의 안전 수준을 지자체 유형별로 평가하는 지표다.
진주시는 지난 2025년 지역안전지수 평가에서 교통사고 3등급, 화재 3등급, 범죄 5등급, 생활안전 2등급, 자살 3등급, 감염병 4등급을 기록했다.
또 시는 교통사고 분야는 전년 대비 등급이 한 단계 상승하는 성과를 거두며 교통안전 개선 노력이 가시적인 결과로 나타났다.
이번 보고회는 평가 결과를 바탕으로 지역안전지수 향상을 위한 사업 과제를 발굴하고 유관기관과 협력 방안을 논의하기 위해 마련됐다.
이날 신진동 국립재난안전연구원 박사는 지역안전지수 컨설팅 결과를 토대로 분야별 취약 요인과 지표 개선을 위한 정책 방향을 제시했다.
특히 진주경찰서와 진주소방서 등 유관기관과 시 22개 부서는 분야별 개선 과제를 보고했으며, 시는 6개 분야 49개 사업을 발굴했다.
박일동 진주시 부시장은 “정확한 지표 분석과 부서·유관기관 간 협력을 통해 시민이 체감할 수 있는 안전한 도시 조성에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
