고양특례시 시장 이동환은 한뫼도서관이 지난해 11월 17일부터 추진해 온 공간 및 환경개선 공사를 최근 안전하게 마무리하고, 보다 산뜻하고 쾌적한 이용자 중심의 공공도서관으로 새롭게 단장했다고 밝혔다.

이번 공사는 경기도 특별조정교부금 10억 원을 투입해 이용자의 안전 확보와 이용 편의 증진에 중점을 두고 진행됐으며, 자료실 환경 개선을 비롯해 화장실 전면 리모델링, 주차장 환경 개선, 옥상 방수 공사 등 전반적인 시설 정비가 이뤄졌다.
특히 어린이자료실은 입구 단차를 제거해 보행 안전성을 높이고, 벽면 도색과 전동 블라인드 교체, 유리 필름 시공 등을 통해 밝고 쾌적한 공간으로 개선돼 어린이와 보호자가 보다 안심하고 이용할 수 있는 환경이 조성됐다.
노후로 인한 악취와 불편 민원이 이어졌던 화장실은 전면 리모델링을 통해 위생적이고 쾌적한 공간으로 탈바꿈했으며, 주차장은 바닥 평탄화와 우레탄 도장 시공, 벽면 도색 등을 실시해 이용자 안전을 강화했다.
