Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province Completes UPS Battery Relocation, Keeping Administration Running Even in Emergency Situations
Relocation of UPS Batteries to the IT and Communications Room Further Strengthens Fire Prevention and Emergency Response... Will Enhance Continuity and Reliability of Administrative Services
[Break News, Dongducheon=Kim Wan-young] Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 29th that it has further strengthened its fire prevention and emergency response system by relocating the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) batteries previously installed in the city hall computer and communications rooms to a separate, dedicated space.
This measure aims to prevent administrative service interruptions caused by IT and communications failures in the event of a fire. The move was implemented by establishing an independent space equipped with fire doors on the third floor of the main city hall building. This is expected to ensure a stable operating environment for information infrastructure and enhance the continuity and reliability of administrative services.
This project, initiated in September of last year following discussions with the Dongducheon City Business Continuity Task Force, involves relocating 70 UPS batteries previously operating in the IT and Communications Room to a secure, isolated space equipped with fire doors. Throughout the project, we worked closely with relevant departments to maximize space utilization and optimize management and inspection routes.
A city official stated, "The IT and communications room is a core facility, the heart of city operations." He added, "With the relocation and installation of the UPS batteries, we will do our utmost to manage the facility to ensure uninterrupted access to administrative services for citizens, even in emergency situations."
