파주시가 지난해 공공근로사업을 통해 취업 취약계층에게 안정적인 일자리를 제공하며 높은 성과를 거뒀다.
시는 2일 지난해 1월부터 12월까지 진행한 공공근로사업에 총 542명이 참여했으며, 참여자 만족도가 99%에 육박했다고 밝혔다.
공공근로사업은 취업이 어려운 취약계층에게 한시적 일자리를 제공해 생계를 지원하고 재취업의 발판을 마련하기 위한 사업이다.
시는 당초 400명 이상 채용을 목표로 사업을 추진했으나, 총 459개 일자리에 연인원 542명이 참여하며 목표를 초과 달성했다.
시가 지난해 12월 참여자 106명을 대상으로 실시한 자체 설문조사 결과, 사업에 만족한다는 응답이 99.1%로 나타났다.
향후 재참여 의사를 밝힌 비율도 98.1%에 달해 사업에 대한 높은 만족도를 입증했다.
사업이 도움이 된 요소로는 경제적 도움이 42.3%로 가장 많았고, 업무 수행 감각 향상과 사회성 향상이 각각 24.8%로 뒤를 이었다.
특히 참여자 연령과 성별 분석 결과, 40~50대 중장년층이 59.4%, 여성이 74.9%를 차지해 재취업에 어려움을 겪는 계층에 실질적인 도움을 준 것으로 평가됐다.
파주시 관계자는 "공공근로사업이 실직 후 재취업에 어려움을 겪는 중장년층과 고용률이 상대적으로 낮은 여성들에게 특히 도움이 된 것으로 보인다"며 "앞으로도 참여자 특성과 수요를 폭넓게 반영해 생계 안정과 취업 연계 강화를 함께 이뤄낼 수 있도록 지속적으로 개선하겠다"고 말했다.
한편, 올해 1월부터 4월까지 진행되는 1단계 공공근로사업에는 152명이 참여해 현재 근무 중이다.
