브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= KB캐피탈은 인도네시아 아동들의 안전한 보행 환경 조성을 위해 지난해 7월부터 진행한 도로 안전시설 구축 사업(Road Safety)을 마무리하고, 이달 3일 해당 시설을 이양하기 위해 KB캐피탈 인도네시아 현지법인 Sunindo Kookmin Best Finance(이하 SKBF) 임직원과 인도네시아 교통부, 교육부 관계자, 지원 대상 학교 관계자 등이 참석한 이양식을 진행했다고 밝혔다.
세계보건기구(WHO)에 따르면 전 세계 아동 및 청소년의 주요 사망 원인은 교통사고로, 2023년 기준 인도네시아는 그 위험도가 세계에서 다섯 번째로 높은 것으로 나타났다. KB캐피탈은 이를 개선하기 위해 지2023년부터 인도네시아에서 매년 2개 학교를 선정해 도로 안전시설 구축과 안전교육을 진행하고 있다.
이번 지원 대상이 된 학교는 지난 해 7월 KB캐피탈의 인도네시아 현지법인 SKBF와 현지 교통부가 함께 협의해 선정한 서자카르타 소재 초등학교 2곳으로 대상 학교 인근 교통 환경 실태 조사를 토대로 진행됐다.
KB캐피탈은 지난해 지원학교 선정을 위해 사전 실태 조사를 통해 학교 별 사고 위험 요인을 파악하고, △학교 안전 구역 인프라 조성 △아동 및 교직원 대상 교통안전 교육 △아동 주도 안전 캠페인 운영 등을 추진했다.
학교 주변 도로에는 ‘학교 안전 구역’ 노면 표시와 횡단보도 정비를 비롯해 36개의 교통 표지판이 설치됐고, 아동의 교통 안전을 돕기 위한 52개의 안전시설물을 추가로 배치했다. 완공된 시설물은 향후 현지 정부와 학교가 직접 관리하며 지역사회의 안전을 책임지는 공공자산으로 활용될 예정이다.
KB캐피탈 빈중일 대표이사는 “금번 사업을 통해 구축된 시설물들이 인도네시아 아이들의 소중한 생명을 지키고, 현지 학교와 정부의 체계적인 관리 속에 지속 가능한 교통 안전 인프라로 자리 잡기를 기대한다”며 “앞으로도 SKBF와 함께 인도네시아 지역사회와 상생할 수 있는 사회공헌 활동을 전개 해나가도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
