충남 아산시의회 문화복지환경위원회가 9일 신설된 ‘장애인복지과’ 사무실을 찾아 현장을 점검한 결과, 장애인 접근성이 심각하게 부족한 것으로 드러났다.
이번 방문은 제264회 임시회 주요업무계획 보고 일정의 일환으로 진행됐다.
위원들은 장애인복지 행정의 핵심 부서인 장애인복지과가 실제 이용자인 장애인에게 충분히 개방적이고 편리한 환경을 제공하고 있는지 확인하기 위해 직접 발걸음을 옮겼다.

사무실 입구가 지나치게 좁아 일반 휠체어 진입조차 어렵고, 전동 휠체어는 사실상 출입이 불가능한 상태였던 것이다. 내부 공간 또한 협소해 민원인을 응대하기에도 여유가 없는 구조로 드러났다.
의원들은 “장애인복지과라는 이름에 걸맞지 않게 장애인 접근성조차 확보되지 못한 현실이 매우 안타깝다”며 개선 필요성을 강하게 지적했다.
이춘호 위원장은 “복지 행정은 물리적 접근부터 보장되어야 한다”며 “이용 편의 제고를 위한 공간 재배치나 이전 등 근본적인 대책이 조속히 마련돼야 한다”고 강조했다.
위원회는 단기 처방에 그치지 않고, 아산시 전체 공공청사의 장애인 편의시설을 전면적으로 재점검할 계획이다. 복지 사각지대 해소와 약자 중심 행정을 실현하기 위한 지속적인 감시와 정책 제언도 이어갈 방침이다.
