파주시가 5년 가까이 지체됐던 경기도경제과학진흥원(이하 경과원) 이전 사업을 본격화한다.
오는 3월부터 원장을 포함한 핵심 부서가 순차적으로 파주로 이전하며, 경기 북부 기업 지원의 새로운 거점이 구축될 전망이다.
파주시는 지난 9일 경과원이 파주 이전을 위한 사무공간 임차 본계약을 체결하고 본격적인 입주 준비에 돌입했다고 10일 밝혔다.

경과원은 지난해 말 파주시 동패동 인근 신축건물에 대해 가계약을 맺고 내부 조성 작업을 진행해 왔다.
최근 해당 건물의 준공 승인이 완료됨에 따라 임차 본계약을 최종 마무리했으며, 현재 내부 공사도 막바지 단계에 접어든 상태다.
이번 임차 이전은 파주 사옥이 건립되기 전까지 그간 지체됐던 이전 약속을 신속히 이행하기 위한 조치다.
