【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=경북대학교사범대학부설중학교가 전국 국·공립 중학교 가운데 처음으로 국제바칼로레아(IB) 중등교육 프로그램(MYP) IBO 프로그램 평가에서 모든 평가 영역을 충족했다.
경북대사대부중은 최근 진행된 국제바칼로레아기구 평가에서 학교 비전·리더십, 교수·학습 및 평가, 학생 지원 체계, 학교 문화 등 4개 평가 영역 모두에서 ‘충족’ 판정을 받았다. 특히 학생 지원 체계에서는 최고 등급인 ‘최상’을 획득했다.
IB 프로그램 평가는 IB 월드스쿨 인증 후 5년마다 이뤄진다. 평가는 약 1년 동안 자체 점검과 증빙 자료 제출, 현장 방문과 면담 등으로 프로그램 운영의 질을 종합적으로 진단하는 방식으로, 경북대사대부중은 지난해 12월 15~16일 IBO의 방문 평가를 받았다.
방문 평가에서는 교직원, 학생, 학부모, 교육청 관계자 면담과 수업 참관, 프로그램 운영 성과 검토가 이뤄졌으며, 학교 공동체 모두가 평가 과정에 참여했다. IBO는 학생 개별 학습과 전인적 성장 지원 체계가 현장에서 안정적으로 운영되고 있다는 점에 높은 평가를 내렸다.
경북대사대부중은 2021년 1월 전국 국·공립 중학교 최초로 IB 월드스쿨 인증을 받은 뒤, 교원 전문성 강화와 수업·평가 개선, 교육공동체 소통을 바탕으로 공교육 내 IB 운영 모델을 구축해 왔다.
서정은 교장은 “이번 평가는 학교가 꾸준히 실천해 온 교육 방향과 노력이 국제적 기준에 부합함을 보여준 결과”라며 “학생 중심의 배움과 성찰 문화를 더욱 굳건히 만들어가겠다”고 밝혔다.
학교 관계자는 “이번 성과를 바탕으로 학생 지원 체계를 한층 강화하고, 탐구·성찰 중심 IB 프로그램과 교사 전문성 신장도 계속 추진할 계획”이라고 전했다.
이번 평가 결과는 공립학교에서도 국제적 교육 기준을 안정적으로 운영할 수 있음을 보여주는 사례로, 앞으로 공교육 내 IB 확산에도 긍정적 영향을 미칠 것으로 기대된다.

Since becoming the first national and public middle school in Korea to receive IB World School certification in January 2021, Gyeongbuk Daesadae Middle School has established an IB operating model within public education based on strengthening teacher professionalism, improving teaching and assessment, and communicating with the educational community.
Principal Seo Jeong-eun stated, "This evaluation demonstrates that the school's consistently implemented educational direction and efforts are in line with international standards. We will further solidify a student-centered learning and reflective culture."
School officials stated, "Based on this achievement, we plan to further strengthen our student support system and continue to promote inquiry- and reflection-centered IB programs and enhance teacher professionalism."
This evaluation demonstrates that international educational standards can be consistently implemented even in public schools, and is expected to have a positive impact on the future expansion of the IB within public education.
