최근 충남도 내에서 소방본부 공문서를 위조해 소방공무원을 사칭하며 소방용품 구매를 강요하는 사례가 발생해 도민들의 각별한 주의가 요구되고 있다.
이들은 공문은 물론 신분증까지 교묘하게 위조해 종교시설 등을 대상으로 사기 행각을 벌이고 있는 것으로 드러났다.
20일 충남소방본부에 따르면, 최근 도내 종교시설을 타깃으로 “소방청의 ‘겨울철 소방안전대책’ 지침에 따라 질식소화포 등 소방 안전 용품을 의무적으로 비치해야 한다”라는 내용의 위조 공문과 구매 유도 문자가 살포되었다.
충남소방에 따르면 이번 범죄는 상대방을 안심시키기 위해 치밀하고 대담한 수법을 동원한 것이 특징이다.
범죄자들은 충남소방본부 명의의 공문을 위조하는 것에 그치지 않고, 가짜 소방공무원증 사진을 피해자에게 문자로 전송하며 실제 공무 수행 중인 것처럼 위장했다.
이를 통해 법적 의무 사항이 아닌 물품을 마치 반드시 사야 하는 것처럼 속여 특정 업체의 제품 구매를 종용했다.
이에 대해 충남소방본부는 소방기관이 민간을 대상으로 특정 물품의 구매를 요구하거나 판매처를 알선하는 경우는 절대 없다고 못 박았고, 어떠한 경우에도 소방서가 직접 나서서 물품 거래를 제안하지 않는다고 설명했다.
소방당국은 만약 소방공무원을 사칭하며 물품 구매를 요구하는 연락을 받을 경우, 즉시 대화를 중단하고 112에 신고하거나 관할 소방서에 전화해 해당 공문의 진위와 공무원 신분을 확인해야 한다고 당부했다.
성호선 충남소방본부장은 “공문서 위조 등 사칭 수법이 갈수록 지능화되고 있다”며 “도민들이 억울한 피해를 보지 않도록 예방 홍보 활동을 강화하고, 관련 범죄에 대한 관리와 관찰을 더욱 철저히 하겠다”고 강조했다.
