【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경주시가 현곡면 라원리 일대의 상습 침수 문제 해소를 위해 배수개선사업을 추진하고 있다고 24일 밝혔다.

해당 지역은 태풍과 집중호우로 형산강 수위가 상승할 때마다 농경지 침수가 반복돼 온 곳으로, 안정적인 영농 환경 조성을 위한 근본 대책 마련이 요구돼 왔다.
이번 사업은 2021년 착수해 2027년 준공을 목표로 진행 중이며, 총사업비는 158억원이다. 이 가운데 국비 126억원, 시비 32억원이 투입된다. 2026년도 사업 추진을 위해서는 72억원(국비 67억원·시비 5억원)이 별도 편성됐다.
주요 사업 내용은 배수시설 확충이다. 라원 2개소, 청령 2개소 등 총 4개소의 배수펌프장과 2개소의 배수문을 설치하고, 기존 배수로를 정비한다. 또한 저지대 2.3ha를 평균 0.4m 높여 침수 위험을 낮출 계획이다.
시는 이번 사업을 통해 형산강 수위 상승에 따른 역류를 차단하고, 집중호우 시 반복적으로 발생해 온 농경지 침수 피해를 줄인다는 방침이다.
사업은 단계적으로 추진되고 있다. 2024년 3월 시행계획 승인 이후 공사를 발주했으며, 같은 해 6월 한국농어촌공사 경주지사에 위탁해 착공했다. 이어 2024년 11월에는 3·4배수펌프장 부지 협의를 마치고 본격 공사에 들어갔다. 1·2배수펌프장 역시 조속한 착공을 위해 관련 행정 절차를 진행 중이다.
3·4배수펌프장은 올해 말 준공을 목표로 하고 있다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “라원지구는 집중호우 때마다 농경지 침수가 반복된 지역”이라며 “배수시설을 신속히 확충해 재해를 예방하고, 안정적인 영농 기반을 마련하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Furthermore, 2.3 hectares of low-lying land will be raised by an average of 0.4 meters to reduce the risk of flooding.
Through this project, the city aims to prevent backflow due to rising water levels in the Hyeongsan River and reduce the recurring flooding of farmland during heavy rains.
The project is being implemented in phases. Following approval of the implementation plan in March 2024, construction was commissioned to the Gyeongju branch of the Korea Rural Community Corporation, and construction began in June of the same year. Following the completion of site negotiations for the 3rd and 4th drainage pumping stations in November 2024, full-scale construction began. The 1st and 2nd drainage pumping stations are also undergoing related administrative procedures for an early start.
The 3rd and 4th drainage pumping stations are targeted for completion by the end of this year.
Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young said, “The Rawon district is an area where farmland is repeatedly flooded every time there is heavy rain,” and added, “We will quickly expand drainage facilities to prevent disasters and establish a stable farming foundation.”
