브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 수협재단이 어업인 자녀 171명에게 총 3억 원 규모의 장학금을 지원한다.
수협재단은 전국 어촌지역에서 선발된 장학생 171명에게 장학금을 이달 말까지 지급할 예정이라고 24일 밝혔다. 올해 장학생은 고등학생 42명과 대학(원)생 129명 등 총 171명이다.
노동진 수협재단 이사장은 이날 선정된 장학생 가운데 대표 학생 4명에게 장학증서와 기념품을 전달하는 행사를 가졌다.
노 이사장은 이 자리에서 “수산업이 지속 가능한 발전을 이루기 위한 핵심은 인재를 발굴해 육성하는 데 있다”며 “앞으로도 수산 인재들에 대한 지속적인 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 말했다.
장학금은 고등학생에게 1인당 100만 원, 대학(원)생에게 1인당 200만 원씩 지급되며, 총 지원 규모는 3억 원이다. 장학금은 이달 말 회원조합을 통해 전달될 계획이다.
수협재단은 이번 지원을 포함해 지난 14년간 총 2,176명의 학생에게 46억여 원의 장학금을 지원해 왔다. 재단은 이를 통해 미래 수산업과 어촌사회 발전을 이끌 인재 양성에 힘을 보태고 있다고 설명했다.
