입학식은 △입학허가 선언 △신입생 선서 △장학증서 수여(입학성적 우수자 및 수석 합격자) △총장 입학식사 △내빈 축사 △신입생 대표 인사말 △교가 제창 순으로 진행됐다.
이날 행사에는 2026학년도 신입생과 가족 등 1,300여 명이 참석했으며, 김상호 총장과 대학 보직자를 비롯해 장진호 대학평의원회 의장, 곽현근 발전후원회장, 장세광 총동창회장 등이 자리해 학생들의 새 출발을 축하했다. 구자근(구미시갑), 강명구(구미시을) 국회의원과 김장호 구미시장은 축전을 통해 신입생들의 미래를 응원했다.

김 총장은 환영사를 통해 “공학특성화 국립대학으로서 통찰력과 창의·융합 역량, 책임의식, 글로벌 소통 능력을 갖춘 ‘Global ICON’ 인재를 양성하고 있다”며 “신입생들이 배움과 성찰, 담대한 도전을 통해 스스로의 가능성을 펼칠 수 있도록 대학의 모든 역량을 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 입학식에 앞서 음악동아리 ‘타니말라’의 축하 공연이 열려 분위기를 더했으며, 행사 종료 후에는 ‘2026학년도 신입생 오리엔테이션’이 이어졌다. 오리엔테이션에서는 △학부(과) 소개 △학사 안내 △전공 특강 △선배와의 대화 △학생자치단체 소개 등을 통해 대학생활 전반에 대한 안내가 이뤄졌다.
