아울러 “지방자치의 핵심은 지역의 자율성과 책임성에 있다”며 “주민 동의 없는 행정통합 추진은 지방자치의 근간을 흔드는 것”이라고 강조했다.
경북북부 8개 시·군의회 의장단은 향후에도 공동 대응 기조를 유지하며, 통합 추진 과정에서 지역 주민의 의사가 충분히 반영될 수 있도록 적극적인 의정활동을 전개할 방침이다.
