이날 회의에서 주낙영 시장은 청소년 무료버스 정책과 관련해 “당초 3월 시행을 목표로 준비했으나, 지난달 경주시의회 임시회에서 추가 검토 필요성이 제기돼 안건이 의결되지 않았다”고 설명했다.
이어 “경주시 거주 청소년만을 대상으로 혜택을 적용하려면 별도의 결제 시스템 구축과 정부 승인 절차가 필요하다”며 “오는 12일부터 열리는 제296회 경주시의회 임시회에서 관련 사항을 충분히 설명하고 의회의 협조를 구하겠다”고 밝혔다.
보문관광단지 활성화 방안도 논의됐다. 시는 숙박·상업·문화시설 등을 복합적으로 유치할 수 있도록 복합시설지구로의 용도 변경을 추진 중이며, 이에 따라 민간 투자 확대가 기대되고 있다.

외동 부영아파트 3·4단지 사업과 관련해서도 공공기여 원칙을 재확인했다. 주 시장은 “개발 이익이 지역사회에 실질적으로 환원되는 구조가 전제돼야 한다”며 “부영 3·4단지와 인접한 구 7번국도 일부 구간을 확장해 기부채납받는 방식으로 협의해 시의 이익에 부합하도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다.
이와 함께 최근 인구 흐름 변화도 언급했다. 주 시장은 “지난해 경주시가 860명의 순유입을 기록하며 4년 만에 전입 인구가 전출 인구를 웃도는 흐름으로 전환됐다”며 “3년 연속 순유출이 이어졌던 상황을 고려하면 분명한 긍정 신호”라고 평가했다.
